As you've noticed, we've upgraded the software on BladeForums.com, and we now have the capability of having multiple moderators on each forum, with the maximum being 4.

Obviously this is a great advantage as it will allow better coverage of the forum topics, and will allow the existing moderators some slack should they need it, and give us redundancy should one be away for any period of time.

James has already said that he's going to be happy for some help, and we just added Kit Carson and Alan Folts to the Shop Talk forum, so this is going to be happening in several forums. Since Les has decided that he no longer wishes to be a moderator, we especially need them for the Collectors and Custom forums (which may be merging in the near future).

The nomination floor is now open, feel free to add your suggestions and throw your name into the pot. If you are nominating someone or yourself, please list their qualifications.

Remember, we're looking for level headedness and rational thinking, objectivity and open mindedness.

Thanks for your assistance, and we reserve the right to make the final decision on moderator choices.

I`ve noticed that Craig Gottlieb and Ghurka House seem to be responsible for most of the posts in the "Non-specific Manufacturers" forum. There is usually more activity in that forum for Craig and Ghurka House than for other specific manufactures who host their own forums. Is there any reason why Craig and GH shouldn`t get their own forum?

(Forgive me if this has already been answered before. This is just my observation!)

We are not talking about adding new forums just moderators. To partly answer your question we need to make certain that we do not make too many forums. Too much vertical scrolling is a bad thing. We have suggested a forum upgrade should include a better way to handle forums our size.

Our suggestion is to have sub forums only show when you select that section. This way we could add nearly any number of forums we want. So hopefully we can fill the requests for forums we have right now, which are 7 at this point, when this new feature is avialable.

I'd like to nominate Joe Talmadge to co-moderate the knife review forum. Dexter is doing a great job. Joe could only make a great thing even better. I don't think I really need to elaborate on his qualifications. Suffice it to say Joe is one of the most knowledgeable forumites among us. We are all indebted to Joe for the first class information he has provided us.

In no particular order....

Bald1-anywhere
Cliff Stamp-reviews
Cougar Allen-Tactical/politics
Kodiak PA-Collectors/reviews

THere are more but the names have slipped my mind at the moment. The pool of talent/knowledge here is amazing.

YeK

Joe Talmadge has got to be up there, he knows quite a bit, Dennis wright in the Buck forum is another one, along with Cliff Stamp, Cordoroy...well I'll stop there...

I personally agree with the assessment of having Joe Talmadge in the reviews section as well as Cliff Stamp, I cannot think of two more qualified people to lend their knowledge to the Reviews forum.

I also agree with having Bob as a moderator for the General forum.

I had these three in mind myself, but wanted to let your guys give your own nominations first and wanted to see who'd pop up.

Bald 1 (Bob Allman): General discussion
Gus Kalanzis: Collectors corner

If you're merging Customs & Collectors together, I nominate:

Corduroy (Drew) and Gus Kalanzis as co-moderators

I could use some help in Community and my first picks would be Rusty (for his humor)and Yvsa (for his ability to get along with just about *anybody*).

I've got an idea brewing that may RADICALLY boost Community traffic and be one heck of a good thread or set of threads, I'll discuss that in "Suggestion Box". Ghostsix, Mohd, Yvsa, Hansen, others: you're gonna want to check that out...

Joe Talmadge, for obvious reasons, in any forum.

Actually not only should we have nomintaions in here but could someone who is nominated step up to the plate and accept their nomination? This way Spark and I will have a better idea of who actually wants the job.

Thanks!

Ill second the nomination for Rob Simonich. I would also like to nominate Chris from top of Texas. Very knowledgable, but more importantly fair. It takes alot more than knife knowledge to be a good moderator. One must be fair, wise, and exercise good judgement. I have found that as a LEO I daily answer calls that deal with matters and issues that I don't understand but have found if I treat others as I would want to be treated if I were in their position I usually do ok.

db and shootist. Thanks, Spark and Mike can tell you that I dont know anything about moderating, Spark had to drive me to my hotel and pour me out of his van in Atlanta at the Blade Show. Course, Mike was buying the drinks! ha ha

BTW Spark, I like the icons!

I agree that Bob, Cliff, Greg, Rob and Joe should be at the top of the list, if they're interested, that is. All of them are reasonable and knowledgeable.
PS I don't mean to exclude anyone else, these guys are just at the very top of the heap and have been around here for a long time.
