Now Accepting Nominations for new Moderators!

I agree regarding Corduroy. General and/or custom/collecting.

Plus I move that folks who nominate someone can't get nominated by that nominee.

Grrr...

OK, let's say I nominate a certain person from Kodiak Island for one of the Collection or Review moderators. I do so because he is even-tempered and his posts are always well thought-out and considerate. These are qualities I have not yet cultivated, and they are essential to the moderator position. For that reason I will not be "stepping up" to any nominations, though I hope if he finds the time in his busy life, Gr- , uh, this person will consider doing so himself.

GUS K is a good choice for custom because he has the experience from both sides of the show table.
Tim Flanagan for autos because he has an interest and knowledge in autos that extends beyond mictotech and into the custon field.

Great suggestions so far.

It's looking like Joe and Gus are definately joining the team in the very near future, and we have feelers out for several others already. Again, I cannot think of another, better, person to have on the General Forum Team than Bob, and should he accept, his position is assured.

Keep them coming folks!

Maybe Patrick Ma (Triple Aught) and the afore mentioned Tim Flanagan for the Auto Forum?

Folks,

I must say this is a real surprise and I'm flattered! I'd been holding off reading this thread for a bit while I contemplated what names I might toss in the ring.

Unquestionable Joe Talmadge. Cliff, Joe, Gus, my friend Greg, all would be outstanding. Matter of fact all the nominees thusfar I wholeheartedly support.
I know Rob, the black hat wearing Talonite king from Montana <hehehe>, has his hands full with his having just recently gone full time as a maker but if he were able to find the time I certainly think he would be a great addition as well.

I'd be honored to assist James with the general forum although I'd really would like to hear more from Mike and Kevin about what exactly they'd like the new junior moderators to do. Same with James as I feel the obvious need for deference to his lead in the general forum as well.

I too think Gus K. would be a great choice for just about any topic. Knowledgeable and level headed both.

I like Bob am honored to even be mentioned with any of the names in this thread I have had the pleasure of meeting qute a few by email and at the Blade Show. Others Joe, Cliff, Drew, Chiro75 obviously have much to offer from their posts and the passion they exhibit.

At the same time I am humbled, - Les is a friend and has mostly likely forgotten more than I know about custom knives. I have great respect for him and his opinions. Whoever ends up on the Custom Forum, has big shoes to fill (Les is the most qualified person I know - there are not too many out there that have earned respect from makers and customers at the same time)and will need support from the vast and varried knowledge we have in our membership here. I hope there are enough options for Mike and Kevin to be able to make a clear decision on what is best for the forums they have created and the spirit with which they have established for this site. I was a little unclear on what was going on with the Collectors Corner and Custom Knive forum. Now I understand that the Collecors Corner will be archived.
I know there is not a lot of traffic through there, but I will have to look back on it with some fond memeories. I got to meet Bob Irons and Greg (Kodiak) there as well as others so putting the binoculars on backwards - It was worth it for me.

Have fun with the decision guys. Maybe it would be good to touch base with Les again make it clear that the Custom Forum will remain Custom and see if there are any folks he would be interested in working with.

I will be out of town this weekend visiting the folks. As I mentioned to Spark - whatever the decision turns out to be it needs to be for the best of the forums having said that Les's return should be checked out.

Thanks, guys, for the mentions! I would LOVE to step up and be a moderator (seems like my "expertise?" would be most ueful answering non-knife questions in the Tech forum or for the general forum, of course), but I am really strapped for time these days. What type of commitment are we talking about, anyway?

Good morning all,
Well, I slept on it trying to decide if I would be able to assist in moderator duties and though I am extremely honored to be mentioned as a possible candidate I don't think I would be able to serve in the capacity the position requires at this time.

I have some major unexpected career decisions occurring right around the corner and I may be knee deep looking for a job very soon. If I do not retire from the military I will be up for transfer and again it would take me away from the forum. So at this time I will have to respectfully decline. But I sincerely appreciate the positive thoughts and I hope to still be able to participate in the forums and assist in any way Mike or Kevin need me to.

I think the quality of the individuals listed above are outstanding and all would do an excellent job.

I too, hope that Les can make it back to the Custom Forum. His knowledge and willingness to help people is invaluable.

Respectfully,

------------------
~Greg~

Bob (Bald1)
Cliff Stamp
Greg (Kodiak PA)
Gus Kalanzis
Joe Talmadge
Drew (Corduroy)

I know there's other highly qualified individuals here, but these folks just pop to the surface the fastest.

Looks like Greg snuck-out while I was nominatiing him.

Heck, I'm still gonna nominate you again.

I'm sorry that Kodiak has such warped values
that he puts feeding his family above baby sitting
us windbags.

My other choices are
Cliff Stamp & Joe Talmadge (Reviews)
Bald1
bcaffrey
shootist16
-------------
Doc (my signature, not a nomination)

Cliff Stamp, and Joe Talmadge for reviews

Bald1, or Joe Talmadge for general

Gus Kalanzis, and Rob Simonich for customs

I wish Greg (Kodiak PA) would re-consider, and that Drew (Corduroy) would consider 'stepping up'.

These guys are the back bone to BF. If they give some thing the thumbs up, its more than good enough for me. There are some people who post a lot, but that doesn't mean that they should be a co-moderator.

Drew (Corduroy)posts have taught me so much. He's the Spydie Sensi of the shake and flick. Jim Mattis and he would make a great team.

Gus Kalanzis is not only a knife expert, he is a true gentleman. Very eloquent. I vote for him in any forum. You might also consider Rick in the auto forum. He is very knowledgeable in every arena as well.

Chief,I agree I think Rick would be an asset
to the auto forum.
Likewise,I would like to suggest Patrick York
for the auto forum as well.

I don't want try to make up my own list, 'cause then I'll be bound to forget someone.

So, as I *have* read this entire thread a couple of times through, I second each and every nomination.
