Now They're Selling Them in Boxes.

Actually, some of the sellers are victims also. They may be ignorant (as far as Buck Knives go) but aquired knives and listed them believing that they were the real thing. I have had two examples of that.

When I bought the fake fixed blade "Strider" using the BIN feature, I was surprised when a day or so later, I received a message from PayPal telling me that my payment had been refunded in full. Then I got a message from the seller telling me that after he mailed the knife to me he learned that they were fake and that I should just keep it for my trouble if I wanted because he wouldn't be trying to sell them anymore.

Another instance was with the fake folding "Strider". When I got it and discovered it was a fake, the seller told me to send it back and even sent me the return shipping without being asked to. He told me that he wasn't a knife guy, just someone who sold anything and everything on eBay and had bought them at a local tobacco shop that was going out of business. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Those kind of guys, I really don't have an issue with. It's the ones who deliberately and knowingly try to deceive the buyers that I get pissy with. Also, the ones who continue with the listing even after having it proved to them that they are not the real thing.

I still have an on going issue with the guy that was selling the 110 (auto) clones and used Bucks own words to describe them. He knew and admitted that he knew they were not real 110's but listed them anyway. His eBay feedback and stars are about to take a big hit.

Yes, I don't know if this is common knowledge, but the "Stars Rating" can really kill a seller even when you give them a positive.

Even fours instead of fives hurt them a lot, so it's good to remember to make sure to give your sellers ALL FIVES unless they are total jerks or something.

There is another guy listing a 560 as a 110 LE. Gave him a lesson on 560's and 110's, but he hasn't changed his description, even after saying he would. He deserves bad stars and rating. I never heard of 560 LE's. There may be some, but this one isn't.

Send me a link? I can't find it.

Maybe he has one that somebody switched in a 110 blade so he's going by the marking on the blade?

That might explain his confusion.

Yes, it could be either.

And......if so, it IS actually what could be loosely described as a "Special Edition."

Maybe he's just a canny marketer.

:D

He sure needs better pics, though.

Back to the original.....for jhubbard should he ever get here.

Sellers are not allowed to:

*

List items that aren't authentic
*

List items if they're not sure if they are authentic

In addition, sellers can't disclaim authenticity of their item by stating, for example:

*

"I cannot guarantee the authenticity of this item, so please bid accordingly."
*

"Vintage handbag Chanel???"
*

"Looks like this could be a Louis Vuitton bag"
*

"I believe this is painted by Degas, but I can’t be sure."
*

"I got this from an estate sale, so I have no idea if it’s real or not."
*

"The autograph looks real to me."
*

"I’m no expert, so look at the pictures and decide for yourself if it’s real."

So, e-Bay will pull Mr. Grumpy Grandpa's auction if he's reported for these violations.

The only question is whether or not Buck cares.

Buck Vigilantes ARE allowed to report these kinds of violations.

SPECIAL EDITION BUCK 110 FOLDER TITANIUM HANDLE

If you look close at the picture, there seems to me to be a T under the K in Buck. If I'm correct, it's the same as the ones I have with the 110 blades. They have a blade with the date stamp T for 2003. Those came like that from Buck.

I understand that some sellers don't know what the're selling and I cut them slack. In Grumpys auction under see sellers other items he has some car parts and 5 or 6 real Buck sheaths so IMHO he knew that knife is fake.:thumbdn:

Well, if he didn't know before, he should know now!:D

I couldn't tell....old fuzzy eyeballs. But no bids. Is a shame people don't listen. He could get that and more, maybe, with a better write up.

And I bet he has no clue that he has a vertical/horizontal sheath.

Will be curious to see a relist. He may need to become another grumpy if he leaves it as is. Altho his responses were pleasant, he lied about changing.
