I'm a big fan of FRN.

Let it go on record for me to say >> " I have nothing against FRN handles at all>> I own and use quite a few of them and will undoubtedly be getting more in the future Lord wiling. FRN is a lot tougher and more endurable than most people give it credit for. It has several advantages and one big plus is that you can use FRN in extremely harsh and wet environments with little or no problem. What Spyderco has done with FRN handles particularly in the H-1 Salt Series has been great needless to say.

I guess the main reason I'm heavily lobbying for a Hawkbill folder with a G-10 handle is because I'm extremely curious to see how well a Hawkbill would work with a more beefed up handle. The Spyderhawk in particular with a G-10 handle I believe could endure some very hard use and could be maintained easier.

Also I believe it would make a Hawkbill model more appealing to knife aficionados who are very picky about their handles and who use them in their occupations like fishermen and seafaring jobs of all types. Also G-10 doesn't weigh very much more than FRN.

Agree on all points.
As a matter of fact, my first folder that didn't have G10, wood, micarta or SS handle/scales was the Pacific Salt.
That opened my mind to many other options I would have probably never tried otherwise.

Hey I have no issue at all with plain edged Spyderco Hawkbills>> I own a few of them myself. I even own one of the first run VG-10 blue handled, PE Spyderhawk models that I do indeed use from time to time. Actually I think every Hawkbill model should be offered in PE & SE both. I've even pondered the idea of a combo edged Hawkbill. That I would like to see in the Spyderhawk model because I believe you would have to have a larger/longer blade to implement the usage of a combo edge. But I wouldn't even mind test driving a Harpy with a G-10 handle and a combo edged blade>> I do believe it would be interesting to check out.

This thread should be about improving the Hawkbill models we already have and to consider the possibility of a new Hawkbill model all together. I'm curious as to what most people use their Spyderco Hawkbills for. I use mine mainly as companion blades for my main PE EDC Spyder >> whichever one is in rotation at that given time.
