I just witnessed one of these sell for $280 on eBay. I am flabbergasted.

Nutnfancy Tenacious

The thing that gets to me is aside from the Nutnfancy signage and camo DuraCoat and lanyard and the fact that only 50 were made...is that underneath it all this knife is still a $35 Spyderco Tenacious. Still made in China. The steel is still 8CR13MOV.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Tenacious family....I own both a Tenacious and a Resilience and they are great knives for a great value. I understand and appreciate the rarity of TNP Tenacious but...$280? Sure, they sold out in an hour after being announced and it IS Nutnfancy's OWN special edition knife. But $280? If you're going to spend that much on a Spyderco knife why not an actual sprint run? You could buy a Military CTS-XHP with over $100 to spare!

I just think you could get a lot more knife for your money. It's still just a Tenacious. That's what just amazes me at how much that knife sold for.

What do you guys think? Is it worth almost $300 for a $35 value folder with a couple bells and whistles?

In the part of the world I came from, we have a saying that roughly translates into this: "the mother of stupid people is always pregnant". If you ask me, some of her sons must have scooped up this Tenacious Nutnfancy edition...$280 for a Tenacious, yeah right...

As much as I enjoy his videos I would never buy this knife for any amount of money, especially $300! The truth is they are not really "his" knives, he just had them coated. Anyone can do that. I don't blame the guy for trying to make a buck but lets not get carried away. Now if he would have a custom knife maker design a special edition for him that's different. Anyone can coat a knife.

It was worth it to the winning bidder. Thats cool. I tried to get one when they were released, but they didn't last long. If some folks think that a Nutnfancy Tenacious is worth less than a plain Tenacious, thats fine too. Live and let live, I say. At least as it relates to sharp things.

Ha,ha,ha!!! $280.00 for a Tenacious! Wow! Just wow!! Hey, I have a christopherm903 special edition Umnumzaan, $4000.00!!! Only 1 made on this special run! Then I believe I still have a bridge for sale....

It was worth it to someone.I'd say Nutn must be doing something right or Sal is selling his way too cheap.A good example that in America anything's possible.:D:thumbup:

I always get a kick out of threads like this.

We're on a forum where people spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on knives every year, most of which they never really use! But your going to criticize the spending habits of someone else? Give your head a shake.

If you think it's amazing that someone paid that much for it, then the idea that someone else bid almost that much and the winner probably bid even more should really boggle your mind. Way more than I'd have paid, but I'm not a fan of wrong handed liner locks. Still, at least two people either thought it worth around that much or just got caught up in the excitement of a bidding war.

So it was you who bought it. That explains it.:p

This subject is getting tired.

Check out the number of subscribers the guy has. Perhaps VERY few people on Blade Forums want to say they like his stuff, but the fact seems to be that a lot of people like what he is doing. It only stands to reason that some of these people might be fanatical enough to pay extra for a knife he endorses highly (and autographed).

Call it anything you like, but I think we all need to take a look in the mirror (and the junk drawer) and review some of our own purchasing habits before we start laughing at anyone else.

I have no reason to believe it didn't sell for that. If more do sell at that price, then it was a legit buyer.

I did know of a person that would get his buddies to drive the price up on the first couple he would list when he had several of the same model to sell. They never really bought the knives, and the ones he would list after them would bring a bit more than normal.

I dought thats the case here, esp if more in the future bring that price.

Yeh- wouldn't shock me, but I can't really say anything better then above poster re: it being a 35.00 blade at the end of the day-one not even made in Co. Dunno, a lot of people have a lot of accounts on ebay-kinda like here. :) Anyway, wouldn't be shocked it was legit either. Not sure why anyone would pay that much for a 35.00 knife. Even 150.00 I could see just for the nostalgia. Stupid is as stupid does I suppose.

The only one laughing is nutnfancy. All the way to the bank.

Come on guys, it was another timeless classic and limited piece. The autograph alone is worth $250.00

I don't even know who this guy is. Who sits around watching dudes on youtube when they can be out, using knives and forming opinions, themselves?

Internet celebrities....

I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time here. I'm all for spending stupid amounts of money on a knife. I'm just saying that I just don't see the money here...well, at least not $300.

Not a problem. There are a lot of things in the knife world that make little or no sense to me. I've spent what others might rightfully consider ridiculous sums on FRN handled Spydercos with odd looking cutouts in their blades, but I can't for the life of me understand why folks would stand in line and pay nearly $100 for a little titanium prybar to dangle on their keychain. It comes down to the fact that we each have our own set of values. Not to mention that auctions, eBay or live, have a way of feeding on the competitive nature in people.

This thread shouldn't even be in the Spyderco forum. The warranty is void, and it's no longer a $35 Spyderco knife. It's...whatever it is now.
