"Nutnfancy" Edition Spyderco Tenacious

By your logic I shouldn't post about my Santa Fe Stoneworks Kiwis on this or the Spyderco factory forum either. Guess I should be thankful you're not a mod.
Well, SFKW's work is guaranteed by SFKW. It's possible that they're also still waranteed by Spyderco...they sell SFKW knives at the factory outlet in Golden. I just think it's foolish to spend so much money on something that has neither a guarantee or warranty. Particularly when underneath it was a $35 knife with a warranty. Without a warranty it's a Chinese made knife with some paint on it, not a Spyderco; the lifetime warranty is what makes the knife worth owning. That's my opinion anyway. Yours might differ, but the fact remains that it's no longer backed by Spyderco.

Nope, they're only warranted by SFSW. Not to mention that you missed, or chose to ignore, the larger point - that by your standards any thread about a modified Spyderco would not belong here. I take exception to that, since I've paid good money to Steve Rice and a few others to void the warranties on a fair number of Spyderco knives, and enjoy showing them off here. :D

I didn't get the impression "DrChimRichalds" was trying to criticize anyone for spending their money as they see fit. Rather, he was commenting on the value of the knife in question--which EVERYBODY seems to do on this forum. I appreciate NutnFancy's work, but I'm with the doctor--I would NEVER pay an extra $250 just to get somebody's name painted on my knife. I would even find it somewhat embarrassing to market said knife if I was that somebody--especially if I promoted the "value proposition" so systematically in my work. But, to each his own...

plain and simple.... flame me if you want.
its a 30 dollar knife that sold for 280, whoever bought it.... i commend your lack of common sense. Spend your money however you want. But i say complete waste where you could have gotten something much nicer. I wish i had Disposable income to pay almost 10x more than the knife is worth.

Lots of folks here are acting as if they can make an objective determination of a knife's subjective value. In other words, just because a particular knife is worth X to you does not mean that it must therefore be worth exactly the same to everyone else. Live and let live, and extend to Nutnfancy viewers the same grace which (I hope) some of them extend to you when you buy something they don't approve of. Imagine another thread on Bladeforums, where folks are scrutinizing your purchases - as if it were any of their business.

Now, when it comes to something that actually affects me, my family and my country, I say its game on. But unless a purchaser is using tax dollars or their kids are starving, its really no one's business what someone else pays for a knife.

I bought a small piece of cardboard. Some might say that is a waste, but it has a picture of Mickey Mantle on it (baseball card) I managed to get it autographed before he died. I suppose whoever I sell it to is an idiot for paying too much for a 2 cent piece of cardboard?

The knife is a collectible to some. Rational value does not always apply. Try not to loose too much sleep over what someone else spends their money on just because you do not agree with the value they assign to it.

Can't really compare Mickey Mantle to Nutnfancy, now can you...

Yes I can. Both are idolized by some fanatical people. Both have items that bear their signature that some people are willing to pay dearly to own.

We could certainly "contrast" them also but you only said I could not compare them;)

lol, i also collect sports memoribillia...... just so happened to have met mickey mantle before he died(very fortunate to do so). putting a youtube reviewer in the same realm as mickey mantle just made me lol. i do understand your point though. i also ask you to remember, this is a forum...lots of opinions. i gave mine whether anyone agrees with it or not.
and as far as losing sleep..... not gonna happen.

Mickey Mantle = baseball legend. Nutnfancy = youtube poster.
Being a baseball legend = ultra tough to achieve. Posting on youtube = anyone can do it without effort.
Baseball = major pro sport. Youtube posting = hobby? random activity?

Finding common links between two people isn't hard to do. Hell, even I signed a couple of autographs after my face was shown on a local tv as they interviewed me after a football game I had played in (hey who knows, maybe those autographs might be worth a lot to someone). Same I guess as, let's say Tom Brady. However that does NOT make me comparable to him. :D
So your argument is kinda weak if you ask me. :)

That is cool. Think anything you like...it is not even an argument.

I think if you understood the income involved, you might not be so cavalier in your attitude about how trivial this guy's video productions are.

My original comparison was two collectable items that bear a signature of a person that some people are fanatical about. It was you who suggested that the people can not be compared...and I think there are many viable avenues for comparison. You can trivialize or trump up what one or the other does all you like.

If you would be more comfortable using Bozo the clown in the analogy, feel free. They are all people who get (or got) paid to entertain, and the autographed various items that some people paid MUCH more for after they were autographed.

Look, I don't want to get into a diatribe about this with you. I don't like your tone (kinda sarcastic and hostile, if you ask me), so I am going just to post this one message and then Godspeed to you and to this thread.

If you are happy considering Nutnfancy on the same level of someone like Mickey Mantle, it's your opinion, good for you. I find it utterly ridiculous.
I also find irrelevant to the issue that you keep saying that you compared the ITEMS instead of the people. Bottomline, you shouldn't even put Mickey Mantle's name in the same sentence with Nutnfancy. One was one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century in America (and this pains me because I thouroughly hate the Yankees), the other is a nobody.
Even considering them to be on the same level on anything, or about anything, is blatantly ludicrous.

To me they're quite similar...people other people care about, who have had zero impact on my life.:)

That Tenacious price is really silly though.

I am shocked this thread hasn't been locked yet, haha

It needs to be. I think nutnfancy needs to go on a list of words to never say on BFC, it always ends up in "Oh i like him" And "Well i don't so you shouldn't like him either" I don't really like his reviews at all and i dont talk about him on here, it never ends up good.

"Some People are born so others can eat"
In the part of the world I came from, we have a saying that roughly translates into this: "the mother of stupid people is always pregnant". If you ask me, some of her sons must have scooped up this Tenacious Nutnfancy edition...$280 for a Tenacious, yeah right...
