His review of the M43 was as usual from him, Pretty good. I have been looking at this website for a Month now and I still can not "pull the trigger" on a Khukhri although I think i have it narrowed down to 2 or 3... I am NOT going to buy 2 or 3 of these things because I cannot carry more then 1. I want it for a weapon and also for some lighter to medium chopping and batoning and general wood craft. It will be carried on my bug out bag but i am not planning on using it in place of a hatchet. 70-30 as far as weapon and tool but if i DO have to use it for a tool then it must be capable and MUST NOT FAIL, my life might depend on it, as my rifle and handgun. I am now concerned that because of "nuttins" review that the quality is going to go down along with the service!! yea yea, your gonna tell me different but I have seen this happen before all to often. Also of concern is that I have sent a few emails in the last week or so and have NOT received a response, No matter what you say that does not inspire confidence in a new customer. Also, it would appear that some of the Old "Kami's" have left and that does not inspire confidence. Another thought, the Average wage for someone in Nepal is 2400.00 Us dollars. Even if a kami made 30.00 a knife and made 2 good knifes a day 5 days a week that is 6250.00 a year with 2 weeks vacation.. 3 times the national average more or less!! These guys aint doing bad by THEIR standards, NOT ours which is what matters!! I have been watching the general "trends" of thought in this forum for 4 weeks or less so I know a little bit about the forums thought process... What are your thoughts about my concerns and please, I would prefer you NOT Jumping down my Throat... You will only be taking 200.00 plus bucks from your dear old Auntie and some Starving Kami, who isnt starving a all I dont think...

:):):)Thank you :):):)

PS I am gonna pull the trigger on one of these Kukhris depending on the feedback or ill just buy a cold steel Kukhri or even the Zombie tools version !!! :)

HI has been in business for going on 26 years. In that time it has built its considerable reputation on providing the finest and toughest traditionally made khukuri to be exported from Nepal with the world class customer service to back it up. Don't for a minute believe that because of a youtube reviewer that it is going to sacrifice that to crank out items for sale to meet demand. HI would rather cease to exist.
Provided the customer is patient, polite, understanding, there is no reason to not get what one is seeking here or from the website. Bear in mind that Auntie Yangdu is one person handling all sales and shipping (aside from what she has myself take care of) and myself helping maintain this forum with my co-moderators.
HI is a small family owned and operated business with a little help from our friends.

At the present time the main computer interface for all this is down and in for repair: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1213249-Yangdu-s-Computer-Down
This is possibly why you haven't gotten a response. Hopefully Auntie will have it up and running in a few days and business will resume as usual. Until then we ask all our customers to be understanding and patient. We are only humans here and also at the mercy of technology as you all are.

yep, if you are patient you will get the absolute best knife for your money anywhere in the world, hand made in a traditional fashion rarely practiced by anyone in the modern era-- and everything else karda said.

HI is the best knife for the money, and worth the wait to get what you want.

stick around ! you may find it a nice place to hang out on the internet! we all pretty much love khukuri's and most of all HI , and talk about that stuff all the time!

After you receive your khukuri, we'll see if you can stop with just one. I don't know of anyone who has been able to do that!

Also, I'm not sure how many kukris a day these men can produce but I'm sure it's not 2 ready for sale blades. Maybe 2-3 per week per kami.

When you get a khukuri in hand, you will understand.

HI has THE BEST customer service anywhere, nobody does it better. All kamis who work for HI are extraordinarily skilled, and QC is absolutely impeccable.

HI supports not only the kamis, but their families, kids, medical costs, and even retired kamis, who can no longer make khukuris, due to various reasons; and to boot they pay the kamis extrememly well, compared to the national GNP of Nepal. What other company you know that does all that?

I have never heard of a HI khukuri failing in any sense of the word. Advice, get one, torture it (but using and respecting it as you should any heavy use blade), and I can guarantee, you will exhaust yourself, before the khukuri gives out.

We have all heard the "I'm only getting one khukuri for multi/emergency use speech", in fact, several of us said it as well. I can also say, that a lot of us, didn't stop at just "one". Hard to understand unless you get one in hand yourself.

Auntie's computer is currently down, she is a "one person" operation, so give her a break, and she'll get back to you when she can. You will not find a more honest, respectful, or helpful, person in your life. She is more than merely the owner of an exceptional company with exceptional products, she is also the "living soul" of the company, and is an extraordinary person to know, if you merely try.

I'm going to be perfectly blunt and honest here.
The nature of the making of khukuri in the traditional manner means that ultimately, just as with other means of human production, some failures will happen due to manufacturing defect. HI is no exception to this rule. Honestly, even though they are few and far between, HI has had some failures of the product. We are very honest about this and if it is our fault the buyer is made whole by replacement. That being said, some failure can also be attributed to the fault/practices of the end user. If you are the type of person that values his tools, takes care of them and doesn't abuse them then we are positive you will have nothing to worry about.

gtk4158a, please be aware that the Ang Khola, Chiruwa Ang Khola and the M-43 are very popular models. So much so that we can hardly keep them in stock at all and there is pretty much a waiting list for any available. I don't have access to inventory so I cannot, myself, tell you if any are available at this time. Hopefully Auntie will have here comuter going soon and will be able to confirm your order. If one is not available, you may have to sit tight and wait until a shipment comes in with some to fulfill your order.

Great choice!!
I join the forum and thinking that i will get just 1 blade but i was wrong big time!!
Each blade is unique and no other blade is alike. They also have tendency to multiply!!
If you will be able to control yourself and only buy one blade, you are my HERO.

Yangdu runs a great shop and excellent customer service!! She is offering some great deals to the members of this forum.

I spent 2 weeks studying and thinking about weight, size, i went with the m43.

This line gets me.

Especially this part.
"dear old Auntie "

I read total disrespect but feel no urge to jump down your throat. There is a mild urge to tear it out but I'll try not to act hasty. If I'm misreading or overreacting I apologize in advance and will try to duct tape your throat back in place as best I can.

in the water we call them kooks,,, i'm not referring to the blades here on the forum either. It's OK Bawanna (although I like and appreciate your style) I can forgive, people tend to mock what they do not know.

indeed we are willing to allow anyone a mistake or two, but respect is a necessity and all due to auntie at all times, and to the kami whom we all respect and rely on to get these great products.

We all love HI a little too much, and really do not tolerate any disrespect or questioning of their integrity on any level even in jest :D
so now you know !
hope you stick around and learn what a living blade feels like ,

but I totally understand being a bit off at the comments at the end of the OP; life in nepal is not easy at all, and these guys really work their asses off for us, not to even mention the person whom we all respect a great deal and who makes this all possible.

the more I read it the more I think an apology is in order. You gotta get the fact that auntie runs this show man, and I wish she was getting filthy rich off of this, but she is not by any means. It would be mighty kind of you to show your willingness to be a good member of a very healthy knife community-correct the disrespect pointed out , then continue contributing in a respectful manner as you await the blade meant for you. We love having new people around, new fans of the company; but you gotta bring love with you , not derision.- can't begin a healthy relationship with those kinds of comments that bawanna pointed out.

I totally agree, I didn't want to "open a can of worms", but since it is now open. The original comment about auntie and the kamis irked me a lot, especially within that one comment; it is requested not to "jump down someone's throat" for comments made, but yet, all the while asking for explanations to some concerns; and at the same time disparage the owner of said company, and the workers.

I chose to ignore those ignorant comments and help to alleviate any of the writer's concerns, by answering as diplomatically as possible, but believe me, that was not very easy to do, not without biting my own tongue.

That just goes to show what kind of people we have on this forum, who will still try to help and support you, even though some comments may come in all kinds of disrespectful forms, from people without the knowledge of HI and those of us who inhabit these waters.
