I am contemplating buying a Nyala for a general use/camping knife. I have read some good things about it here, but was just wondering if anyone else had any input they would like to share about the knife. Thanks!

I wish I could give you some input. Its one of the few CRK that I have not tried. I have had so many chances to get one, but just never pulled the trigger. I have always seen it as a fixed blade large regular sebenza if that helps. I know I will get one eventually though.

The Nyala is a very nice small/medium fixed blade. It's a really nice knife for an EDC. It's small enough to carry comfortably and use discreetly, but big enogh to get a good range of tasks done with the blade at just under 4". That size also means that for more rural or out door work it needs twined up with something like an axe or larger knife though. I carried the Nyala for a short while (before I started carrying the Scout) I usually took a large 10-12" knife or hawk for all the chopping and other heavy work and kept the Nyala on person for the smaller jobs. :)

Sounds like exactly what I am looking for then. It would be living on my hip the whole time. I am going to have to try to find a kydex sheath for it also. I like the leather, but sometimes the kydex has benefits.

It will be a good choice. The knife does have a generous handle size. I like that as far as use because it gives great control of the knife and helps a lot when wet or tired etc. If I had one gripe it would be that the sheath could a little lower on the belt for me, but it's still perfectly useable as it is.

I'll try and post a few pics up later on.

Thanks, I would appreciate that.

This is a quick pic of a Scout with a Nyala, I'll post some better pics when I get back from work. The Sout is a Skinner reground into more of a drop point. There are not too many about as only those brave or crazy enough to take a CRK to the grinder have one....:p:thumbup:

That's pretty sweet looking. I like it!

So I caved and bought a Nyala from a member here on the forums. I can't wait.

Yea, that IS a really nice pic....

*sigh*...guess i'll be looking for a Nyala soon:)

A Nyala is next on my CRK purchase, I decided to put a Micarta Large sebbie for later because I am really digging the regulars compared to the 21. The Nyala looks like a heck of a versatile knife, mix it with a horizontal carry and it's a perfect hidden carry.

Here's some pics to hold you.

I love my Nyala. Not the most comfortable knife I have with extended use but not bad either. I have used this knife for bushcraft and general camping chores. It does surprisingly well at bushcraft work. Get it, you will not regret it.

I am digging all these pictures! I am thinking the Nyala will compliment the Sebenza quite nicely.

I think I am going to have to start a search for a hatchet also. To bad CRK doesn't make those to!!
