Nyala?

I owned a Nylala. Finest blade shape ever, reminded me of a Sebbie. I could not get used to the exposed tang on the butt of the handle though. In fairness, I am not keen on any fixed blades with this feature.

I'd love to get my hands on one, I thought I had Nyala fever before this thread, geeze. I just wish they were in stock somewhere.

Thank you JNewell and marthinus for your kind input.
If that Orvis Nyala is so rare, I would pay $400. Just a matter of locating one.
Best wishes, Oliver

Good luck on your hunt. If one pops up I will keep you in mind. For what its worth. Try posting in the wanted to buy section of the forum.

Why are the scales not flush with the handle, doesn't make sense to me ?

It is strange, but Gayle Bradley did the same with his collaboration with Spyderco. It somehow fools the hand into thinking the handle is rounded.

I have read the speculations and questions about the CF scales being smaller than the liner. The reason is three fold: 1) It makes the knife feel rounder in your hand and more comfortable when pushing hard against it; 2) I like the look; 3) it is a manufacturing consideration - easier to match up and offers protection to the scales.

Thanks for the interest. If you have any other questions post them and I will to try to answer them.

Stay sharp,

Gayle Bradley

Twenty five only, Orvis only, went in the blink of an eye. What's odd is that very, very few of them seem to have been bought by people here.
