NYC Knife Laws: action on folder tightened down so it can barely move

I brought my Pingo to NYC.

It was totally concealed in my cargo pocket and did not print.

While I was in NYC I asked a couple cops on the general consensus of knife laws.

I got the impression that the regular beat cops do not want to be bothered harassing law abiding people.

I seem to recall him say that locking knives are illegal.

I wasn't about to pull out my Pingo to demonstrate that it was a slip joint and not a lock back.

By what the cop said I think it would have passed muster.

I also recall him saying that all knives must be concealed.

He said that by having a knife clip showing in plain sight can escalate tensions among criminal types. (or something to that effect)

I hate to admit it but I can see his point. (pardon the pun)

Anyway, it was a great trip to the city.

I walked over 60 blocks total which was what I had planned. I walked from the West Village to SOHO and up Broadway to Times Square. Next time I will spend more time in the diamond district because it is so fascinating.

It was a warm day and I drank lots of Gatoraid and water. I was in the city for about 6 hours and managed to urinate 5 times from the excessive hydration.

I avoided the occasional shady character and felt pretty safe.

Manhattan is locked down pretty good and I can not imagine too many violent crimes happening during daylight hours.

Good Times.

Carry a small, non-locking slipjoint knife and you will not have any problems with the NYPD. I wouldn't carry a fixed blade, it could be considered a "dangerous knife".
