O/T: Handgun Decision to Make, Seeking Opinions

Really? By whom?
Well lets see here...
German Police (P7, P2000, P2000SK) and Border Guard (P30), Norway Police (P30L), Polish Army special forces (USP, USP Tactical, Mark23), Polish Central Anticorruption Bureau (USP), Lietuva Army (USP) Republic of Ireland (USP) British SF (USP, USP tactical)

US customs and border patrol (USP, p2000, P2000sk, MK23) Too many US states to list approve law enforcement use of HK's and use them everyday. US military allows special use permits for HK's and many choose to use them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not to mention HK was awarded a major handgun contract for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, worth $26.2 million for up to 65,000 pistols.

I'd say that qualifies as Battle Proven...and Im sure Im leaving out a heap but you get the point.

The bottom line is they are BOTH fine weapons and will serve the OP well.

my agency authorizes the hk line, at one point our command staff were issued p7 m8's. there is only one left, issued to a current deputy chief. a handful of our guys carry the usp .45.

the l.a. county sheriff's department and culver city pd also authorize the usp for duty carry.

and the seals in that bruce willis movie carried suppressed usp's. :p

9mm +p+ is hot hot, plenty of juice. The ball is cheap practice. I like the Elite more anyway! 229 all the way, no question.

I think it has to come down to what it will be used for. I have a Sig P239 .40 that I carry, I had a HK USP .45 that was too big for concealed carry, but still an incredibly dependable weapon. I sold it but to fund another .223. I carry an HK .40 on duty, and depend on it with my life! Both weapon manufacturers are quality!

I've owned an HK 45 and an HK 40, both great weapons, i've been carrying a Sig P239 with a 357 sig barrell for a few years now, love it , don't see ever changing it for anything else.
