O/T: Tag Heuer Watches...Good? Bad?

Hey Burkstar,

Thanks! It was a long time in coming...and well worth it!

Here's a picture I took of it!

That's a gorgeous watch!! From everyone's suggestions I've found that I like the Omega Seamaster Diver Chronometer and the Rolex Sea-Dweller..oh and the Breitling Avenger M1. I don't really care for the date magnifier like on the Rolex Submariner.

I have a question about Seiko...Are there two sides to the company? My current watch and everything else I had previously seen appear to only be one side of what Seiko offers. I found references and pics to tons of Seikos I had never seen before (i.e. MarineMaster). That particular model and many others are not listed on http://www.seikousa.com/

I hope once I get myself one nice treat it stops there....I've had nothing less than a blast reading about watches this week. Damn, this could be really addictive :)

That's the only thing I don't like about the Rolex. It's too big of a "mental issue" for me to overcome to purchase one. The "cyclops" looks like a blemish/accident rather than an enhancement. I really wish Rolex would offer those watches both ways...that way, I'd be seriously considering one for my wrist.

Tags are good watches in my opinion. I have a ladies diamond accent Tag Link which I have worn everyday for over nine years. It was expensive, but it is extremely comfortable and beautiful. The only downside is mine starting losing time (not due to battery dying as it will do a slow second hand tick jump when that happens) but I could find no one locally who would fix it. I went to my jeweler, he sent it the the TAG service site (wherever that is) and they came back with an estimate of $500 to clean and perform maintenance and said that was all it needed. Their are lots of 'repair sites' on the internet but do I want to sent a $3,000 watch to them? Probably not. I'm still debating what to do.

My impression oh TAG Heuer ---- A shadow of the old glory days of Heuer. TAG Heuer are basically equivalent to overpriced boutique watches. Solid watches but nothing special. Most often overpriced. I bought this at the Hickam AFB PX for $99 for SCUBA. They were then selling in Honolulu for $325. Any more than $100, and I would not have bought it.

One of my nephews used to sit in my lap and twist the bezel. This one goes to him when he graduates university shortly.

I have two Tag's. I've had one for over 20 years and it's been around the world with me without any problem. The other I've had for about ten years and has serves me well. I have been able to replace some parts on my own as needed, for example the bezel spring, but other than that no problems.
