At 10:00 a.m. this morning I will be having my left eye operated on for cataracts. I inquired about it recently in Community and hae been assured that it is a piece of cake.
There are of course all kinds of bad things that Could happen but aren't likely too.
One of the really nice benefits that's possible is that I may not have too wear glasses for distance anymore. I'm kind of wondering how it will affect my ability too get a sight picture with a firearm but I have managed with glasses so I'm thinking it will maybe be better.
The Opthamologist says that in six months or less that my right eye will be ready as well and Medicare will cover it at that time.
It will feel strange not having too wear glasses for distance anymore.
There are several questions I have about my existing glasses though.
I don't know whether to have clear lens put in the top so I can go ahead and use the sunglasses that goes with them or what but I will figure it out in time.
Wish me luck and if you have some time please send a little Smoke up for me.
Never have enough.
I appreciate it.

Also don't know when I'll be back so if it's over a day or so don't worry about me. I'll just be chillin, maybe with a nice Vodka Gimlet with Absolute and Rose's Lime Juice.:D  :D

Good luck with the eye op. I don't think it's a big thing now days...seems like everyone is having it done.

Keep a khuk handy - better yet, let the surgeon see Barb patiently steeling it.

I thought you were a bonded whiskey man?

I Never, Absolutely Never, drink anything stronger than pop, but pop would drink anything. :p ;) :D

BTC, my taste does run toward the Single Malt Scotch but what I said above is pretty much true. The old man drank everything and anything that came along but always in moderation. I have a vague memory of seeing him drunk and sick one time, but I don't know if it's a true memory or not.
I was very, very, little at the time if it is true.
Consequently I grew up liking most all of the spirits, could've led too my downfall once upon a time but fortunately there were bigger Spirits that said I was too do otherwise.
I am grateful too them, very grateful.:D

Smoke and song for you Edutsi...from Bev as well, sends her love. After the surgery, you'll want good wrap-around sunglasses, so don't fret the eyeglasses issue right now.

As clear as your vision is now...there is no way to tell what might be seen after this.

.

The surgery is pretty mundane these days, Yvsa.

Not like the old days where they popped your eyeball out and tossed it back and forth amongst the staff before fixing and returning it.

Best wishes and prayers sent!!

I too think you have nothing to worry about (not that I wouldn't if it were me though--I tend to worry about any procedure until its over :) )

I think cataract surgury now is similar to laser eye surgury. Shouldn't be any problems.

I could do the same procedure for you... for say... 20 bux
I have this old cheese grater...
:D

It IS routine these days.... and you won't need glasses any more.

After you get the other one done- usually like a month later.

Been through it with bro-in-law.

If you start getting visions of another kind, I might try it.

Good luck, smoke tonite anyways.

:D i'm using that line the next time i hit the bars, i.e. tonight;) My drunk buddies will get a kick out of that one.
Best of luck to ya, Yvsa. From what i understand the whole sha-bang is pretty common place these days. My grandmother had it done maybe 10 years ago. They had to take her eye completely out and laid it on her cheek....at least that's what she says. Of course, my grandmother is dang near certifiable (is on anger meds for throwing bricks at the neighbor's house, thinks it's funny to put things like KY jelly and condoms in the shopping carts of unexpecting old ladies at the store, has pretended to be from the Humane Soc. when she saw a dog on a short leash with no water...threatened to take the dog, etc).
You'll be fine and will be able to see better than you have in years. I'll send a little smoke up this afternoon for ya...just in case;)

Yvsa, smoke and prayers going out right now,and some more for Jessica. I have Gloucoma and 2 cataracts that my opthamologist told me are ready to be removed. I have other health issues that I'm dealing with right now, so the cataracts will have to "take a number", and wait their turn. I'm sure all will go well. It's a relatively common procedure today. Good Luck!!!
