I think I might have OCD when it comes to knife buying. For Instance I started buying Cold Steel Trailmaster bowies about 3 months ago since I always wanted one and they have started drying up. Since then I have bought 12 (7 carbon, 2 stainless, and 3 san mai). I do this with all my knives I have to have 5 or 6 of each knife. Its like if they all disapeared I want enough to last the rest of my life even if I break one here and there. When I found out beckers where drying up I bought 5 bk7's and 5 bk9's. I have 9 Sog Tigersharks and 6 Sog seal 2000's. I sold a seal 2000 a month ago and 2 weeks later I replaced it. I cant bring myself to sell any of them or get rid of them. I have just hd to stop buying for now since I have like 140 fixed blade knives but only 19 different knives that make up thes 140. O yeah I bought these 140 all in the last 18 months. Just curious if anyone alse has gone through a crazy buying spell like this or has to have 6 of the same knife. Sorry to add more crap to the BF pipeline.

My EDC changes with a new tool or new knife on a weekly basis. So.... yes, I have it too.:o

Ash,....
It's not your fault, tell your wife the VOICES are telling you to buy these knives.
And, you are not at 200 yet, so you are still quite a ways from the goal (of the voices).
Take Care,
JGarth

I spend my money on acquiring new things, as opposed to copies of knives I already have. I guess I don't have OCD.

Wow, ash.
I think you may actually have a legitimate buying disorder....
Have you obsessed about things like this in the past?
I do the same thing with cheap tools, like hex wrenches and screwdrivers clamps... But thats different probably, i work on a boats, and i tend to lose them overboard on a regular basis.

About every three months, I find some reason that my latest EDC tactical is not quite right. I need to find a more "perfect" one. Then I run into Wife Kicks my Ass Syndrome.

Yes indeed, my friend. You have OCKBD....and a serious case of it. Step into my office.......

How is it (you ask) that I can recognize this disease? Why, I'm an expert in it, of course. I stop waaaaay short of falling to the depths to which you've lowered yourself.

I prescribe this rememdy for you: You will immediately package up your knives (package them properly) and send them to me. Here they will remain...safe from the evils of society and, most importantly, your obsessively devlish desires. Until I judge that you are sufficiently cured of this edged blemish on your soul, I will not return them.

I've spent about $750 this month on blades. I can't help it. I haven't ordered any duplicates, but I just can't help myself when I see a knife that I want. In the last month, I've gotten a Ranger RD7 and custom RD4 (on the way), an RTAK II, RAT7 D2, RAT 5, RAT3 D2, and a Scrapyard Dogfather (on the way). It needs to stop!!! I'm already getting OCD planning on my next Custom Ranger and a Busse...

Now, if I had 3-7 of each of those knives, the kids WOULD be starving and naked!

I too am a certified professional in the treatment of OCKBD (nice one, Stretch), so you may send your knives to me for safekeeping and evaluation, diceman. I'll especially have to carefully inspect that custom RD4.

All in the name of science and medicine, of course.

Sure, I'll get those on the way as soon as the DF and RD4 get here.

I'll post some pix of that RD4 next week - blue G10 scales w/ black spacers, in satin finish. I'm sure you'll like it. Leatherface is going to make the sheath for it though, can you expedite that for me!? :)

you know, I was fearing that I was developing a buying disorder... but I suddenly feel pretty good about my habit... hmmm... think I'll celebrate with a visit to knifeworks....

It sounds more like manic behavior than OCD.

One characteristic symptom of mania is spending a lot of money that one
does not have; borrowing it, using credit unwisely, using savings unwisely...

OCD is an anxiety disorder.
One who's afflicted with the disorder has obsessions (thoughts which cause extreme
discomfort; even panic) - and then compulsively acts to quell the thoughts.
If they cannot perform the compulsive act to quell the obsession, the person
can become extremely distraught and confused to the point of actual disability.
It is treatable, however. As is mania (the "up" side in manic depression.)

True "Obsessive Compulsive" behavior is extremely serious shit; unfortunately the phrase has found
its way into pop culture and become almost meaningless.

Sorry to get a little heavy where there's a nice jocular tone happening,
but I've worked with this stuff and it is in fact pretty heavy.

We should all feel good about our buying disorders... has anyone seen one of Jaxx's pictures of like 85 Busses sitting on his living room floor!? THAT guy has a buying disorder!

:D Seriously, that RD4 sounds sweet. I've heard nothing but good about Leatherface's work, as well. Congratulations on that blade, and I can't wait to see the pictures.

(Kyp - look for pix on Monday or Tuesday. I'll quit hijacking this thread for now! Sorry Ashtxsniper!)

Sweet, I'll be looking for them. ;) [/hijack]

Anyhow, though that is a tad odd, Ash, I figure if you can afford it, then what the hey?

Compulsive buying? It's a way of life........and like all addictions 'just one more fix' will settle it. If only....
