Hello,

back in october 98 I registered at the Blade Forum. 10 years ago !

My favorite folder was the Spyderco Military PE,
my fav FB was a Schrade Sharpfinger.

In 2008

my favorite folder is the Spyderco Chinook III
my fav FB is a fallkniven A2 !

I'm stubborn about my folders (the Chinook upswedge is like a folding sharpfinger) but I have changed my mind about FB as choppers.
Even if I still EDC some short and light FB too.

So where are those members of october 98 ? What has been your evolution in taste and knowledge since you start posting or lurking the BladeForums ?

Cheers
JM Nemo

Still here. :D.
Like it so much I signed up as Bastid too. ;).

At the time my favorite folders were made by Bose.

10 years later my favorite folders are still made by Bose.

Most of the old-timers probably don't read the General Knife Discussion forum any more. This forum is mostly beginners.

The other day I happened to re-read the shovel review you translated for Fred Perrin. It's still a classic.... :)

"My shovel can cut trees ! This is a mighty tool! Who could claim his throwing shovel can cut trees ??? Me!" -Fred Perrin, translated by Nemo

Nah, I'm another oldie. Not sure exactly when I signed on, but around then seems about right. Also, I used another handle at the time, but don't remember that, either (as before noted, I'm old!! :o ). After having dropped out for several years, I came back January, '05. Can't say why I did either .

Well, I'm sure that in 1998 I was an sporadic lurker here, however I waited until I had a better internet connection to register.

So, 10 years after I know a lot more about knives and (for sure) I have added some to my collection.

Regards.

Jaime Orozco.

Hey old one, how about sending me that KH ivory job then? :D

Just kidding, all you collectors, I am jealous, I would be so much more educated and knowledgeable had I found this site years ago, Congrats to all of you and I appreciate all your contributions.
Just an old uneducated _ _ _ _ here.

cheers to 10/98! It's even in my sig line! (ever since an unfortunate incident w/a software upgrade somehow deprived me of my continuous heritage).

When I signed up, I was packing a black-blade combo-edge mini-AFCK and thought it was the best thing ever. Since then I have bought & sold many an EDC, including 2 more of the 810/812s and a handful of customs, but for the past few years the Microtech mini-soccom elite PE has secured the most constant pocket time.

As for FBs, I have gone through dozens, BUT the one knife that will ALWAYS stay in my kit (since I got in when they came out in 2002?) is the mighty Spydie Fred Perrin Street Bowie - some knives are timeless, and that's one of them! And thanks are due to Nemo for doing his part to bring Fred to the attention of the American knife community.

LOl !
Thank you everybody ! Good to see I'm not the only survivor of the first age.:p

Let's try to make this thread alive until october !
And let see who is still there... hidden under new profiles...

What happen to Dexter Ewing ?
C. Stamp has been banned last year...
Any other of the Brontosaurus of knife reviewing ?

Ah The Shovel ! I have lost the password of that geocities site for 7 years.
And despite my emails they were never able to give it back to me.
And some reviews are still online. Amazing...
Gosh it was long time before Youtube allowed any troll to destroy a knife and called it reviewed...;)

And no one ever tried with a shovel anyway... :D

I still got a full back up of that site with all the reviews and the projects of reviews. Perharps one day I will put them back on line...

cheers

I'm pretty new to this place, but I've noticed that I do post quite often.:D.:D.

I lurked and read the posts by you old hands for quite a while before I took the plunge. My first post was to tell Bill Martino how much I loved my new HI khukuri-the first of many. He wasn't called Uncle Bill till later. My favorite knife was "The one I just got-until the next one arrives!" Still is.;) That first khuk has been to Iraq and back. Uncle Bill is no longer posting, although his record remains intact. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.:)

I started lurking around my birthday (which is in October) in 1998 and signed up 1-17-1999. Wow! I can't believe it's been 10 years! By November 1999, I became a moderator when we started the wilderness and survival forum and I have been here ever since...:)

We are quite scattered around the globe.
But this could be the occasion of lunch all together !

Who met each other all ready ?
