OD-1 Owners ...Who's Got Em???

Picked one up last night.

I only wish it had some spine jimping like the leek and some on the frame by the flipper for a more sure grip.

Considering that I got this knife for $40 at Wal-Mart, I cannot believe how well made this knife is. One G10 scale and a stainless steel liner lock makes this one very sturdy knife.:)

I agree, this is a very high-value knife IMO. Plus it includes 2 features that you usually see in higher-end production and custom knives - phosphor bronze bushings and the lockbar stop (aka Hinderer Lock Bar Stabilizer). These really add to the value of this knife.

I only cons I have are the absence of jimping on the spine and, for my my knife, the weak ball detent for the blade, which was the cause of my OD-1 'biting' me for a second time (other time was my own carelessness in addition to the very sharp edge) as I reached for in it my pocket and the blade was part way open. Jabbed me good :( .

Went to Wal Mart yesterday and while there I finally took a look at the OD-1. That flipper iss awesome! Very smooth with terrfic lockup. Guess I am going to put my pants on and head over to WallyWorld and pick one up, as in right now! I will check back in in about half an hour with the results. Just another example of how this forum has influenced my knife buying.

This is definately a sweet little knife. I love the hidden pivot on the G-10 side and the way the flipper works, hiding inside the handle is just genius! For $40 Kershaw has certaintly raised the bar once more. Btw, I just received some paracord I ordered from knifekits.com, got four colors with one being a dark red called "Blood". Just tied a hangmans knot laynard and the dark red with the black G-10 looks fantastic, and even classy!

I got mine yesterday. Awesome knife for $40 at wally world. Had one problem - The screw holding the knurled flipper knob came loose and everything went flying. Found the screw and the knurled knob (lucky). Used some lock tite to secure everything. Every time you flip the blade open you are applying pressure to the left (counter clockwise) on the knurled flipper knob. This action tends to loosen the screw from the knob. A better design would be a reverse thread on this screw.

The OD-1 is probably the best forty bucks I've spent in long time. Fit and finish are typical Kershaw quality. The G-10 is awesome, grippy but not aggressive - and on the wrong side of the knife to tear up your pockets! As soon as I felt how smoothly it opened the first time, I knew I had to buy it. The new flipper design is cool, and I'll bet it's very useful for people with arthritis or musuclar problems in the hand. You can open it at any speed, using pressure from many different angles. I can use the flipper with any of my fingers and my thumb, quite easily.

14C28N is really growing on me. This thing is quite a slicer, especially considering the 1/8" blade! As much as I love the Leek, the OD-1 is inching up towards favorite EDC.

Bring on the Williams designs!

I was at walmart:barf: and, eventhough I can't afford to buy one, went ahead and checked out the OD-1. I really liked the knife, but was concerned that the frame lock, when engaged, can easily be pushed all the way across to the other handle. Is this normal? I checked the 2 they had and both were similar.

What say y'all?

Nay, mine is about perfect at 65% engaged. If pushed it will move just slightly.
Plenty or room left for wear.
