I guessing it's a sheath liner to prevent the blade from cutting thread or leather.

O'Neil,

I know you were just filling in but did someone get your thing from the pic. I was hoping you would say you use the slash for heat or something.

it was getting away from the shop to chill out when every thing seem to go wrong . That day I screwed up a customers knife that was 90% finished . It was a bad day to be in the shop .

I got a tip from Tracy Mickley that has worked out well with these mats.

I use Feathering Disc Adhesive on disc grinder discs, so they are removable and reusable. In between uses I store them on a series of these mats, marked with the grit. Put a board on top of the stack and a weight and it keeps them from curling.
Beats having discs hanging out with the glue exposed.
Thanks, Tracy.

hey what happened to this post , is it dying or is it not interesting or what.

THANKS! :D  :D

For years I have used my drill press and this hole saw I adapted to cut hook and loop sand paper disks. I remove the center drill and chuck the saw in a portable drill and remove the curf on my belt sander. You can cut about 5 disks at once. When the teeth wear out I cut new ones with a carbide burr on my Foredoom.I buy the 2 inch holders from Industrial Abrasives. I pick up the sand paper on eBay an end up paying about .5 each instead of .20 from the catalog.
