While this thread started as a search for a good knife to keep on my keychain I'd like to turn it into something a little different. People don't always read the responses and will continue to comment on the OP. With that being said I ended up buying a Salt SpyderEdge Ladybug. This is a knife that I always thought would be gimmicky. Too small to really use blade and handle wise and overpriced. I have to tell you that I was wrong on all accounts. The handle locks in to a very comfortable grip and the blade is pure utility; I've used it to cut up apples and oranges even. If I were to lose this knife today I'd buy another immediately. The handiest little knife I've ever come across.

I think there was a reason this was Sal's most carried knife. :)

Looking for a dedicated keychain knife. Top candidates right now are the Ladybug, Manning, Roadie, and Finch 2 (Byrd).

The Squeak was mentioned in another thread as a keychain knife but I'm not sure if it would be too big.

The Roadie looks to have better ergos but wouldn't one hand open like the others.

I'd love your experience for those who have carried any or all of the above. And post pics!

Thanks,

While I don't like a cluttered key chain, they both ride in my front left pocket.
I carried a super blue Manbug, until I lost it at a amusement park. A Great little life!
When I was deciding what was going back in, I went with the Ladybug. Mainly because I bought my wife a Foliage Green ladybug and I wanted Hap40.
So I did a blade swap..

For the size, weight, ease of one hand opening and closing, and in hand ergo's. I really like the Ladybug.
The Finch 2 is a extra inch of handle and almost the same blade size. (.06" shorter, actually)..

Tons of blade options, steels, and handle colors, with the Ladybug, as well..

I use mine for a Lot of things! Cutting, toothpick, nail cutters, etc..

Less girth, then the Manbug handle (from spine to fingers), but that pointy ladybug blade, has much use! More to me, then the blade on the Manbug. Tho, it's a really nice blade shape as well.

I honestly think the Ladybug is even too big for my keychain. Its awkward, but maybe that's just me. I wish they would have something bug or honey bee sized with a real steel.

Like winnerone23, I don't like the added bulk of having a knife on my key ring. But I do carry a HAP40 or ZDP Manbug in my left pocket on most days. Very handy and capable little knives.

I have this Ladybug on my keychain.

Looks like the Rescue Manbug is slated to take it's place though.

I love my Ladybug for the keychain. It's always with me and by far, my most used knife. It's the smallest, lightest locking knife I could find.

I grabbed the bug/honeybee/grasshopper set before they disappeared.
Keychain and a tie clip.
These get hair whittling sharp with just a few passes on a strop.
Not too shabby for a bargain buy.
Got to keep them oiled up though.

Can't complain with a ladybug.I carry either a Green FRN ZDP-189 or a plain edge USN Hawkbill. Nothing smaller.

I have a zpd 189 Ladybug and a Clipit tool- they are still in the box!! Great knives!

My girlfriend has a salt ladybug on hers and loves it.

I have a Ladybug in ZDP hanging from my keychain.

yep. me as well. went through many brands and models over the years. this one has stayed on my keychain for many years now.

Placed an order this morning for a Salt Ladybug. It's slender and I like the idea of a serrated edge in edition to my plain edge as well as the maintenance free H1 steel.

(Not my photo; I just really liked it).
