Oeser Knives...

Just blazed through this whole thread, and I am completely blown away. Awesome work, so glad I just got added to the list. Now to try and save money!

Very nice new pieces, Jared. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you in the near future.

I will have some special stuff coming out of my shop after Blade.

Jared,
it seems that you have cool stuff coming out of your shop even before Blade :D
The more I look, the more I admire your work, and your trademark (yes, you already have one, and that's great). Just like Elliott, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you soon, but before that, enjoy Blade: I'm sure your booth will have quite a bunch of people drroling around :)

I wanted to pop in and show some more pics of my Gunstock. I bought it as a user, and it gets carried and used.

I had the chance to go to a cattle ranch and participate in a roundup.

About 500 head of cattle. We had to separate out the calves. Brand, tag, inject, and yes, castrate about 250 calves (well the males got castrated, by either banding or cutting when they were bigger).

I had a few knives with me, of course. In my front zippered shirt pocket was my J. Oeser large gunstock. (zippered pocket because I did not want to loose it while wrestling calves).

Excuse the poor shots, I accidentally set my camera to HD shot, and it really requires a steady hand.

Here it is with next to the brands heating up.

The knife was actually used to castrate a few cows ( I had multiple knives, and tried them all out to get a feel for them all). The knife was tossed in the dirt, kicked around, and even stepped on once. I was filthy, and full of dirt, mud, blood, and a bit of manure. I tossed it in my pocket and did not get a chance to wash it off till the next day!

It cleaned up good as new with soap and hot water. A few licks on the strop and back in the pocket.

There should be a few more pics coming which are more graphic. I might put those in their own thread, if they are too much.

Tyson, I can not tell you how cool that is. While I know many of my knives are fondled more than used, I love seeing my knives getting put through their paces.

Just freaking awesome, thanks for posting those.

Jared, it was a real pleasure to meet you!! ...And dare I say shake a shadow out of your pocket? ;)
Man I love this knife so much that it is the only BLADE score that I risked packing in my checked luggage because I didn't want to wait a week or two for it to be back in my hands! Ballsy, yes, and I sweated it during the flight home, but it made it and that's all that counts! :) Love it, man, it's already been used lightly while at the show, and it will continue to be a user!

Thank you very much for letting it go, man. I'll treat it right and keep it well! My first...definitely NOT my last.:thumbup:

And while it still looks all new & shiny:

Hey Alex, it was really great meeting you too. And I'm really glad you like that little zulu. The zulu is one of, if not my favorite knife pattern. Truly a knife made to work. Enjoy that little guy and shoot me a PM anytime.

Here's a little post Blade Show knife. My first swayback. It measures in at 3 5/8" closed. This might sound funny but I forgot how much I like this pattern.

Thanks again everyone for looking.

I was so hoping I would get to see some of your knives at BLADE. Hopefully next year.

Love the swayback, Jared! Enjoyed meeting you at the show. Keep up the awesome work!

BTW, lightened up my image, wow it was a bit dark. :o That'll teach me to process pix & post still tired, ha-ha.
Yep, I love it, man! Thanks again so much for letting it go! Now please help a n00b with some terms... Got the blade profile as a Zulu, but was I wrong calling it a shadow?:)
And oh, youbetcha I'll be reaching out really soon... :) Rock on, Jared! Ya got mad skillz!

Thanks again everyone!

And thank you Joe. It was great meeting you as well. A very exciting Blade show experience for me all around.

Thank you too Alex! The pic looks great!

This little swayback is on it's way to Singapore. I think that is the farthest I have shipped one of mine yet.

You did get it right on the terminology. The blade is a Zulu blade shape, the frame or handle is a trapper variation, and since it does not have bolsters it is considered a "shadow pattern". Thus making it a Zulu Trapper Shadow.

You have definitely stepped on a slippery slope my friend. These little slipjoints might be almost as addictive as Busse knives, . . . almost. ;):D

Nicely done buddy! I dig the thinner pattern. That's about my favorite swayback
pattern, Seems it might be nicer in hand! Ride great in pocket. Congrats...
