# of sebenzas made a year???

Maybe I should open this to some major betting! :)

Here is the scoop:
- Including Chris and me, there are 18 of us on the staff.
- Rounding the numbers, but including all variations of each model, in 2008 we made 1,200 Large Sebenzas, 1,000 Small Sebenzas, 250 Mnanadis and 450 Umnumzaans.

.... and because I am sure someone will ask, we made a combined 4,700 fixed blades, of which a little over 800 are the Yarborough for US Army Special Forces.

Holy vaca! Now I want to know how many knives Strider make...

7600 knives a year with 18 people. Minus sales administration andso; 12 people in the production a 200 days a 8 hours is 19.200 hours; this means every knive gets an average of 2,5 hour love and attention.

Now I understand the level of perfection!

Thanks for all that maths, but CRK are working from 7am to 5:30 pm so its a 10 and a half hours day (say 10 including 30minute lunch). 4 days a week.

52 weeks in a year x 4days gives you 208 working days. Lets say 200 to keep it simple

7600 pieces divided by 16 people (I figure Chris and others also help with knives since they are such a small company) is 475 knives a year for one person.

475 knives/200 working days give you an average of 2.4 of a day on a knife.

10 hours a day/ 2.4 gives you roughly 4hours and some on a knife.

And most of that time is spent on hand finishing and fitting. The handles (blades probably as well) are CNC machined so one can do a few at a time (I think).

That is a lot of time just on fit and finish.

(feel free to correct my maths as I am really not good with it, have not done any in 4 years)

I`m pretty sure that CRK employees do get "some" leave as well-so that needs to be figured in too. Not sure what the average leave in the US is, but probably at least a week or so?
