I found a phone for my wife. Now, the guy has a buy it now, but not a real buy it now button, it just listed in the description. I offered to buy it now, and the guy only takes MOs, so I look to see what the Bay's policy is on getting yur money back on Money orders. he agrees to sell it to me, and I ask through ebay what his address is..and he sends me his email address, not his address. He ended the auction, but it does not say sold, it says ended early.
am I right to think that I'm about to get jacked for my money? What would you do? Thanks in advance, all.

I think it is strange that he did a Buy It Now in the description but not as an option with the button. How many feedbacks does he have? I'd check those out before I sent any money.

Sellers do have the option to end an auction early, I believe. It does seem a bit strange. And not providing a mailing address? Oh, you are smart to do all of your communication through Ebay with this seller. A good record should something go wrong.

I'd double check the Ebay rules before I continued with purchasing this item. You have not entered into a contract with him as the item was not completed as a Buy It Now or a regular big and "You Won This Item!"

He could be legit. But I always try to trust my instincts with sellers. I have approximately 350 buys, and I have only gotten screwed out of an item 1 time. But then lots of other people got screwed by the same seller at the same time.

If there is another phone listed at a good price, I would think about going and bidding on that one.

This seller can always relist his phone.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

well, he did send hes name and address just now, actually through ebay. I googled him, and there is someone in Ohio with his name at his address.

Do you real feel that this belongs here in Communit? Well, I don't! Off to the TGB&U! ;) :)

There are two reasons why people do that: so they can cheat ebay out of their commission on the sale, and so they can cheat you and you won't have even the little protection that ebay gives buyers.
