While watching the news this morning (always makes me angry) I saw story after story of our heightened security awareness for the Holiday. :o

BULLSH!@.....The FBI has issued their weekly "the sky is falling" report. I am deeply ashamed to have ever been involved with them in any manner!

The Smithsonian museum was shown with it's metal detectors and xray machines and these pompous a$$es were proud of it.

The soccer moms (gender non specific) are happy :barf: to be safe over the holiday while visiting the monuments to our FREEDOM

IT will take hours to board a plane, and people doing it will have to suffer humiliation extreme at the hands of people who couldn't work at McDonald's if they lost their security jobs.

Cops will be out in full force making sure we are safe by conducting random searches, profiling and restricting access to the areas we pay for with our tax dollars. Not to mention beefing up the local economy by making all those seat belt violation arrests. :grumpy:

Patrick Henry said "give me Liberty or Give me Death.
When I am remembered for my patriotic words it should be....:
"They can all kiss my rosy red A$$"

While everyone is celebrating the time we won our freedom....take a minute and try to remember when we lost it!

End of rant...I will be waiting for the knock on the door!

Amen brother. I've often wondered when it became the govt's buisness to worry about wether or not I get killed in a car crash. Stick a little more tobacco money up the asses and get out of my life. We have already lost "the war on terror" and dont even know it.

I wish I had said that. Wait, I have said that, just not in print.

Remember: Those who would trade any amount of freedom for security doesn't deserve to have either one.

FBI, security, terrorism ?? One friend of mine who had information that he thought might involve terrorism , called the FBI. The agent said she was just leaving for the day and couldn't be bothered dealing with it so he should write a letter to the agency !!!

My philosophy is that everyone should carry a gun and knife. That way every one would be on the same plateau. Me personally I would shot first then ask questions if I considered myself under attack.

Boy could I tell you some stories Mete. Laziest bunch of pretty boy do nothings (with one exception) I ever worked with!

Yeah, if there was just one redneck with a gun on each of the 9/11 flights, none of it would have happened.

Robert Heinlein said "people had a lot more respect for each other when everyone carried a gun."

Slowly most states have had some sense and reinstituted carry laws. Hopefully the rest will follow. If I ever get out of one of the most repressive gunlaw states, Illinois, it will definitely be somewhere I can carry legally. The lowlifes would not terrorize the common citizen if they thought they'd get their freakin head blown off for their efforts.

Yeah, welcome to the new paradigm in America.

I wasn't going to admit it here but we went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 last night. Before anyone blows a stack let me just say I went in and left with my will intact. I'm not easily brainwashed, by any brand of politician. An interesting point though, that the administration wages their war of fear on the public because it makes us easier to control, re socker moms of any gender. People afraid are sure more willing to give up their freedom than those of us who, as IG said, would shoot first when threatened. I pray no one comes in my house thinking they're going to harm anyone, cause they ain't leaving living. Assuming I let them leave at all...

Indeed, remember when we lost our Freedom. Time to get it back! I think many people are starting to get a clue, but still too few.

I argued frequently at work with a diehard liberal who used to ask me "You'd kill a man who came into your house only to steal?".

He couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand him.

As for seeing F 9/11, why not, Dave? I figure "Know thy enemy". Hell, I bought Les's tome on knife collecting for exactly that purpose........

Preach it Peter!

"Land of the free; home of the brave" ?

You can't be free if you're not brave. Time to change the motto.

"Land of the secure; home of the sit and watch cable TV."

That's right IG, I've always thought that every real American should have been issued a handgun at their birth, and the serial number be used instead of a Social SECURITY Number. That would give a whole new meaning to Social SECURITY.

In New Mexico, we finally got our CCW approved by our Dem governor. The last one, a Republican vetoed it several times. You can't always count on stereotypes, especially if you are not back east.

I haven't gotten one yet because I don't own a pistol small enough to conceal. Besides, open carry is legal in most of the state. It is also legal to have a loaded, concealed gun if your home or vehicle for the purpose of protecting your person or property or that of another. I consider it to be mandatory in both places.

"I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."

One of the best rules no matter where you live. At least to my mind. Let the soccer moms do and believe what they want.

Speaking as a person still on the working end of national security, I agree with every honest citizen being allowed to be armed, concealed or otherwise. Like Roger, if I catch an intruder in my house and he poses a threat, he won't have time to make his peace with the folks upstairs. True, too, like our friend says, if some folks had been packing on those planes, 9/11 would not have happened. Remember when they had armed air marshalls on planes? The bad guys stopped messing with planes. Wave a box cutter and eat lead, case closed. I am well armed both on and off the job. It feels strange, kind of naked, when not packing. I carry knives as a secondary backup and of course edc, just for the record.

The sad thing, while I'm all for armed citizens, is that that wouldn't have helped on that flight. Those people chose to die. The guys were just carrying stinking box cutters. Heck, most of us wouldn't even stoop to having one of those around, even if I'm cutting tons of cardboard I prefer a real knife, just grab one in O1 or similar so it holds the edge. But those people had it so ingrianed into them not to fight back, and to just go along with it. All ya would've needed is one of them to get pissed, tear one of those stupid tray tables off the back of the chair in front of 'em, and turn the hijackers skull into a "collage in red".

Of course that's more likely to happen now, but look at the horrible cost we had to pay before poeple would start to fight back. A nd even now, ti's a very small minority, most of it people like us who would have fought back int he firstplace.

I'll stop the rant there I guess. It's a holiday, and oen that I remember real significane of, even if most of people in the coutnry(present company excluded) do not. So just gonna spend weekend thinking of that, not the sad state are citizens are currently in.

Excellent point! Yep, they could have taken those bad guys down easily, even with nothing else, weight of numbers. You either go to slaughter, or you fight. Me, I would rather rip apart someone that poses such a threat, rather than stroke my lucky rabbit foot in my pocket.

The passengers on the plane that crashed into the field did fight back but they knew what was up. They had received word by cell phone about the planes being flown into the Twin Towers.

The passengers in the other two planes would have fought back I'm sure if they had know that they were riding in a guided missile.

I watched that entire horror come down "live" on the tube. I remember that once, just once, after the PA flight went down, that there was definitely a report that a large piece of the plane was down 7 miles from the bulk of the wreckage. It was never, ever repeated. I am absolutely certain I remember the report correctly.

Call me paranoid, but to this day I suspect the plane was shot down by the AF and the government intervened in the reporting.............
