Off topic: baffled.

The part about the security guard, is that the business (if they are contracted guards), pay the security company just as much as it would cost to have actual police officer work the detail there.

There's always hope that they'll locate your vehicle. Heathens have "usual" spots where stolen vehicles are dumped. No one wants one in their driveway. My neighbor had his truck stolen (he leaves unlocked with keys in ignition and a pistol in the door). His truck was found a week later, with more gas, washed and detailed.... No gun though.

That depends on location.
Here, cops make $90000 per year (more with overtime)...the billing rate for private security is nowhere near $90000 per year.
The billing rate around here is about $30000 per year for regular guards...so you can have 3 guards for the price of one cop.

Like I said, contracted security guards, not employee security guards. Contracted the company gets paid 30-35 an hour and the guard gets 11-12 vs employee guards that make sub living wages.

I was basing it based on the wage I got as a percentage of the billing rate...all that was clearly laid out in the union agreement.
Our wages were to go up as a percentage of the billing rate with years working there...but in practice did not, because minimum wage was already more than that percentage of the billing rate.

Companies are cheap around here, be they malls or company headquarters.
Only the hospital guards get more around here (still not much), because it's mandated by law that they need to have guards, so the union and company can grab more cash.

Hey man, where you in channelview tx when your car was stolen? My companies training center is over there. That place is a shithole, I got a knife pulled on me in that area. I saw better looking stray dogs in the Dominican republic than the prostitutes there. Haha

PV, I'm not defending the officers actions about the Id, but was the ID confirmed to be the thiefs or could it have been from another vehicle that the thief burglarized?

Oh, right. Believe much in coincidence? Anything is possible, but as former LEO, I have to say that is bordering on preposterous. lol

Preposterous that a thief dropped someone else's property.....okay.

You must not have been LEO long.

I know two people who's cars were stolen,...they drove around sketchy parts of town and FOUND THEM. Just a thought.

Pretty much right under the Sidney Sherman bridge with a great view of all the Kirby Inland push boats. Ya, bad place. 610 east basically.

They could use it to commit some other crime. A smash and grab type thing maybe.

Sorry to hear about your tough luck, especially since I'm not all that far from you.

I got in a road rage incident in the SF bay area. Some hoods stole an SUV, burglarized a bunch of places then cut me off getting onto a bridge. I flashed my lights at them and they tailgated me for a bit. I thought I heard them hit my car so I got out at the next light to see the damage. Four of them hopped out and started flashing a pistol. It was probably a good thing I didn't have a firearm or there would have been a shootout.

Had potential to get ugly for sure. Glad it didn't.

Gotta watch those criminal types, we just recently had a road rage incident at the mall, the soccer mom had 2 rounds put into the minivan.

I work at a refinery in Baytown that is right on the ship channel. Most of the inland barges that come into our marine terminal are Kirby barges. We actually have a Kirby site rep there at all times.
