Found a pic from my days of training to be a dad.

I still have no clue what the hell I'm doing most days.

Interesting choice of plate carriers you have there... What NIJ rating does one of those things get? I'm guessing it's not multi-hit

:cower:

For those that carry a pistol, is paddle carry a good option for a holster? It may be just me but couldn't drawing the weapon just pull the paddle out of your britches with it?

That's a nice rig. I been having a hard time enjoying neck carry because of the feel of a single strand of 550 sawing across my neck. I gotta try your style of lanyard sometime. Made the one below last night for my psk izula as an experiment... gutted large cord with 550 pulled through it.

A ranger band pulled onto the handle is quite grippy, fyi BK14 owners...

Better hope your watch is keeping time driving through here.....

This is posted by a school in the area. Apparently it was a school board decision to go with the sign -- they didn't want to spend the $$$ for a sign with a flashing light like this:

I have an Uncle Mikes Kydex paddle rig. While I don't really care for it all that much, there's absolutely no way it would ever pull out with your draw. The retention to your pants is way too tight for that to happen.

It's something to think about.

I'd say you did pretty good Clich. I gave a CZ52 it's a great shooter, but I'm interested to see how the new stuff does.

Just bought this

Nice buy Clich. I've never used one, but have read a lot of good things about the CZ 75. Thought about getting one more than once.

How much did you get it for, if you don't mind my asking? New or used?

New $488. But I had to order it so I paid full price. When it comes in I'm trading in a browning a-500 i dont use for $300. So I don't mind 188 out of pocket

REALLY REALLY solid choice, Clich.
+1 on the heft and mechanical feel. A gun should feel serious, especially the first one.
The Cadet .22 conversion units work well on it too, I've shot one.

Yes, a paddle holster is a FINE option. It WILL stay in your pants, provided the following:
1) you wear a belt so the hookie-doos have something to bear against
2) you don't drag a$$ like a gangstah, in which case you'd need some sort of tactical boxers instead

I have a DeSantis paddle for my 1911 that works just great. The paddle is plastic - looks like kydex, but not sure. The holster itself is molded leather, i'd guess 8oz, with a tension welt. I paid $50 maybe 5 years ago.

My experience with paddles is that they aren't very concealable. If you just need it for hiking should be fine. Generally I prefer to NOT wear a gun at the range - my opinion is that guns at the range should be cleared, open, indicated and on the table facing downrange when not in use (assuming you're not hosting a run&gun match).

If you want a custom holster, paddle or otherwise, I recommend... (oh wait, can I?) er... a guy who does the stuff... he makes many variations, including an all-leather paddle. PM me if you're curious.

edit: Regarding holsters: if you don't wear a belt, you should. If you DO wear a belt (which you should), then you will need a thick, stiff belt.

Most padle holsters should do just fine, but I feel like they create too much space between you and the gun thus making it print more. Everyone is different, if like my boss you need to take it on and off often the a padle makes it easier. I kinda like the leather holsters with belt loops with snaps on them.
