The words on the current BK&T's are roll stamped (imprinted) on the blade. The new version of BK&T's coming out this year with the new coating apparently will have the words laser etched not roll stamped.
 
Roll stamped means that there is a large wheel, that has the BKT/Kabar logo on it. The blade blanks are annealed in the area where the stamping will occur, then, they are laid down flat on a backer (steel block), and the wheel is then rolled over it, with great pressure, leaving the logo pressed in. Then, the area where the stamp occured is then re hardened, and it has to be straightened. Then, its off to grind.

Yup, all that for a logo, now, they get lasered right when they are almost done. Cool stuff, and better all the way around.

OH, my 10/22 heavy barrel came in today, 2 more pieces and I'm ready to start the build.

Next, my 308 build starts.

I'm calling it "The American"

Hogue full alum bed stock, Rem 700 HB action 18", EGW rail, Burris XTR rings, and a Millet Scope, TRS1 I think. Not sure, I checked out so many at SHOT, I forgot which one I ordered.

Total price $975, or there abouts.

Should be a fun little shooter.

Same build on the 10/22 as well. Only not the TRS1 scope, don't need that much glass for a 22. Thinking about a Burris 4x for the 10/22.

Howa 1500's are better. But they are made in Japan.

I have a Howa build, 1/2"MOA, and damn smooth action out of the block. I'll have to polish the Remington and regauge the barrel. Howa, chamber and shoot.

I see those at work all the time. I dont know if its the 1500 but the howas here seem to be very fairly priced. I almost got one of their rifle/scope packages a few years ago.

Get the Hogue/Howa combo's. The Nikko Stirling Scopes are pretty good glass for the price.

I love mine, like I said, it came out of the box shooting 3/4"MOA with factory loads, and 1/2"MOA with handloads. I tore it down, and built it back up for the fun of it, doesn't shoot better now than it did BNIB.

Do condition the barrel though. I do that on all my new barrels, seal them up.

I strongly praise the Howa Bolt action, its one of my favs.

Nothing like a Remington HB action, fresh out of the box though. I just like the way they look.

fiddleback hiking buddy came today. A little patina and i got it for a steal. It will join the rotation of fixed edcs to compliment my new found love for slippies (just picked up the one in the bottom pic and have another primitive bone knife in the works)

Guyon's funeral was somber, serene, and closed casket. we couldn't find quite enough of him to warrant stitching the bits together :)

no knives were harmed in this production :D
 
We need pictured of this 10/22 build Moose. What barrel did you go with? I had a 10/22 that I put a 20" fluted Green Mountain barrel on along with a ton of other mods. It shot great groups and was really fun to build. I ended up selling it to fund something else and never did put another one together. Hmmmm, maybe I should start a new build. Kinda sounds like fun.
 
Have fun with the slipjoints, Clich. I was ramping up a major obsession with those, then got a GEC Conductor and *poof* it all went away because this immediately became my forever pocketknife. Hell, it even pushes the LE Phat Bob out on the weekend days sometimes.


Well, I still need to get one of these though.

Good morning fellas. I'm just going to sleep now.... been buzzing away in the shop. Totally sleep deprived but there's no rest for the wicked. Figured I'd be the first with "Good morning" today.
