Theres a brewery in Montana I think that make a beer called Moose Drool. Its a really dark ale I think? Its pretty decent stuff. I'm generally a Bud light or Rolling Rock guy, but once in a while I'll grab the Moose Drool for something different. Weird that it come from MT when Moose is in TN........ Found the website for it: http://www.bigskybrew.com/Our_Beers/Moose_Drool

Ahh, now you're speaking my lanuage...

If you like IPAs, that Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Lagunitas Hop Stoopid (Double IPA actually) are both really good and great values. New Belgium Ranger IPA's not bad either. If you're a hop-head (based on your Stone reference) these may not fit the"something new" caviat. I would take Ruination over those three if that means anything to you.

Dead Guy Ale is the only Rogue beer I.ve had and I like it, but Rogue tends be a little pricey.

Unibraue (top row second pic) is one of my favorite breweries. If you like Belgians I highly reccommend them. In particular, La Fin Du Monde (Belgian Tripel, golden color, not overly hopped), Trois Pistols (Belgian Strong Dark Ale, dark color, but nothing like a stout), and my favorite Terrible ( also a BSDA I believe, but slightly different).

New Belgium Fat Tire is very popular too, very drinkable.

Firestone Walker isn't distrubuted here, but they are pretty well respected and have a number of very highly rated beers.

Hope that helps, yer makin me thirsty :D

My only advice is avoid the Shock Top. I've had 95% of the rest of that stuff, that's the only one I'd stay away from.

...., and my favorite Terrible ( also a BSDA I believe, but slightly different).

Terrible it is... thanks man, will let you know what i think.....

IPA's is what ive been doing recently, but feelin like i need to take the taste buds for a hike in new territory....

the SN Torpedo IS good, i actually have had quite a bit of that, and i also recomend it, but like you said, Ruination is where its at for IPA...

i have a friend bringing me some Pliney the Elder next week, never had it, but those that have speak highly of it

you want my opinion on beer?

I'm a big fan of both of those Firestone Walker beers. Have you discovered Russian River yet? If not, go get yourself some Pliny the Elder asap.

Cool man, I didn't know what you may have already had.

Nice score on the Pliny, supposed to be the grail of sorts. Ive never had it as we don't get RR here in MI or anywhere nearby. Maybe someday if I'm in CA.

Oh well, I'm plenty happy with my Two Hearted and Hopslam :D Oh, and then there's Founders :D :D Yeah, I'll live...

Enjoy!

I'm right there with you, never could drink beer, but thats ok, cuz my college buddies couldnt shoot bourbon, so I didnt catch much flack. My favorite is Woodford Reserve.

Moose Drool is a pretty decent brown ale -- Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat is a very tasty stout.
Pale Ales & IPAs are at the bottom of my list of drinkables - not a fan of hops.
Wee heavy's, scotch ales, dunkels, browns, porters, stouts, bitters, etc... however...
and I agree that wheat beer is nasty.
