Ok so my wife and I have our first child on the way, 13 day to due date. And she bought herself a nice, EXPENSIVE, Kate Spade Diaper bag. Now for the help. I think I can get the Maxpedition of my choice since I need a bag as well and am partial to the Versipack, but what size? Standard, jumbo, colossus which one. Keep in mind it will first be used for a diaper bag then it will be mine to use as I wish. I like the jumbo cause it had the water bottle pouch already there but what's your take on them.

 a kate spade diaper bag!!!!!!!!!! seriously....hahaha definately your first?

i have kids AND max bags. i had the jumbo and now have the colossus. if you really intend on using it as a diaper bag go w/ the jumbo. you'll be able to put the bottle in the side pouch. diapers get bigger as the kid gets bigger and you'll WANT and NEED to carry a change of clothes for beebs. So in my "professional" opinion I suggest the jumbo.

That’s funny, 2 yrs. ago my wife also bought an expensive & frivolous "diaper bag" that looked like a large purse...and she expected me to carry it!? After a couple of months her diaper bag was frayed and torn...but my LL Bean book bag still works for me (now over 8-10 yrs old) and is in one piece. I used a simple book bag which has plenty of space, I just sorted the liquids/lotions/wet wipes into zip-lock bags, which works fine. Many new parents many feel they need certain item to facilitate their every parental tasks, ie) diaper genie , which really do not work as advertised. Good luck & God bless

the jumbo does indeed make a great diaper bag.
I have known folks who wanted something bigger for longer excursions and went with the monsoon, but for day to day short trips and such, the Jumbo is perfect!

Thanks guys guess now i need to order one. Can you email some recommendations to me as i don t see a need for them to be placed on the thread.

Thanks again

I agree, my sister and her husband ended up getting a smaller pack and regretted it. They ended up with the jumbo and it worked out nicely.

My little one is still some months away, but I picked up a blue Jumbo as the Tactical Baby Bag. :)

Yeah I was looking at the khaki jumbo I guess I'll order from TwoWolvesOutdoor as they were suggested by Mrs. Shotgunner and a few others on the Maxpediton thread. Thanks for all the help and maybe I can sneak a RC3 or RC4 in too without the wife noticing as a bag knife.

I decided that sneaking the RC would not be a good idea so for now I will jsut have to do with the Jumbo Versipack and either the izula or HEST as a diaper bag knife. Thanks for all the help everyone it was much appreciated.

Diapers, wipes, change of clothes, blanket, diaper rash cream, bottle/sippy cup, hat, sunscreen, shoes, food, the list goes on. Our first diaper bag was a cross shoulder, single strap backpack looking thing. The strap tore off at the bottom. You'll definitely want more than one.

I'm not a fan of the versipak's I would think the pygmy Falcon II would be a good size diaper bag. Then double as a hiking bag later.

I had the FatBoy for a while...Shotty has it now. It was too small for anything other than the basics. I'd like to try the Colossus, but then you get into the whole "to heavy for one shoulder" thing. I am currently using the PF2 and it is great so far. I'd have to say that a muti purpose daypack would be a better choice. Look at the PF2 and the Condor. The PF2 has a lot of compartments, while the Condor is a main compartment and less subdivisions.

I'd lay out your carry items, and see how you'ld like to access them. Do you need compartments, or a big ole grab bag kinda thing.

Don't be scared to look at other models too. There are some great bags out there besides Max. Try LL Bean, TAD gear, Duluth Pack, County Comm, and others. If you go to edcforums.com and read up, they'll give you many great reviews. They don't like Maxpedition, but don't let that stop you.
Good luck and congrats!

If your just out for a few hours the fat boy maybe fine. But that thing is tiny. A change of cloths. Few diapers, food, formula, wipes, extra binkies that thing will be stuffed. I would look at one if you can. It like a large purse. To small for a full day imo.

I pretty much figure that this will be my bag to carry a few of the necessities. If I have to go anywhere I will most likely be with the wife who will have her big expensive bag. A few diapers, wipes, bottle, first aid kit, few pacifiers, a spare onesie, a bib, etc. I really think if I am with him the tote I made up of extra baby stuff in the car will cover what I won't have in the bag. Plus I really wanted a Maxpedition and this looked like the perfect size for hunting or hiking. While it may be a bit on the big side for a hike as long as it rides good it really doesn't matter to me. I looked at many bags and this and the LL Bean Sling Pack. If I don't like the Maxpedition I will just order the LL Bean. I just feel that the Maxpedition will sit more comfortably and be way more accessible.
