Off Topic but I need help...

Congratulations by the way! You're in for a wild ride but it's worth every sacrifice you make.

Jumbo.

Who the hell is Kate Spade anyway? :D

I think shes the cousin of Amy Neutered  :D

Like a bunch of the other guys here, I would think the versipaks would be too small and i'd push you to consider the backpack route. It would be beneficial to have the extra room plus a heck of a lot more comfortable...

While it may be a bit on the big side for a hike as long as it rides good it really doesn't matter to me.

Okay I understand a long trip you will use your wifes bag. The Jumbo is good for EDC. Probably good for the baby bag for short trips. It's a nice bag. But saying it's big for a hike? Have you seen one? Anyways buy it you will like Maxpedition they make good stuff.

I’ve got a Jumbo and it’s a nice sized bag. Honestly, I don’t know how big a diaper bag needs to be. I always figured I’d have to get a Max backpack of some kind. Apparently kids need a lot of equipment. What’s great is I bet your wife’s high dolla’ diaper bag doesn’t hold a handgun that well or have MOLLE for attaching a RAT knife.

Not sure if you’re planning on ever carrying a gun with it. I took an Uncle Mike’s Sidekick nylon holster and super glued the hook side of some Velcro Industrial Grade to the back of the holster. It works with any of my regular carry guns and is nice for some applications. I feel it's more of a holster than that Maxpedition doo-dad.

OUCH, when Uncle Mike's whips your ass and you get called "craptastic" in comparison, that's harsh! :D

Adaman04, thanks for posting the pic. I'm not familiar with any of the maxpedition stuff sizes so I couldn't recommend anything but I can tell from that picture that one is way to small for a diaper bag even as a secondary one.

That's just one compartment the pistol is in, there is a main compartment that is larger that you can chock full of poopers. And, yes, I'm a parent and went the nasty diaper bag route in the mid-1990s so I'm not just guessing. Unless your kid is shitting every 7 minutes and you have to use the diaper guidelines of "25-35" pounds as an estimate of amount of feces instead of weight of child, the JUMBO will do just fine. :D

Haha, it’s Monday morning, I might have been a little harsh. I edited my post. It's a well made piece of gear, not junk but any means, just not for my use.

One size fits all holsters rarely are and I personally prefer an actual holster. For something like a Beretta 92 or a DA Sig, the Max universal holster would work alright for me, but for Glocks or other guns without a manual safety, I prefer more trigger coverage. This is the only application where Uncle Mike’s gear comes in to play for me. As with all of their gear, Maxpedition makes a bulletproof, very well made, universal holster that doesn’t work for my personal application. There, I think that’s a little better. :D

Like I said in my last post, I think a backpack might be a better choice depending on what you carry, but then again I don’t have kiddos, I’m just judging from the size of the standard baby bag.

Yeah, that’s not the main compartment of the bag in the pic, that is just the gun (or other gear pocket). Under the flap is a nice sized pouch. Trying to think of what I can put in there that would describe the size. A dozen AR mags, or a hoodie, all kinds of crap. Unless you want to carry a full pack of diapers, a full box of wipes and a case of formula, a Jumbo might work.

As a father of a 2 yr old I can say a Jumbo is fine.
Two or three diapers in the holster section, bottle in the bottle compartment,
wet wipes (the really small handy pack) in the top zippered compartment (you'll want to be able to get to those quick!). I suggest a Janus extension. It makes it fast to adjust between two people of different heights and gives you some room for little things you might want close. Good to put small snacks in too since less of a chance of them being crushed.

Then later... you have a cool EDC bag and the Janus makes a good PSK!

PS Congrats! Its an awesome experience!

Well this thread has turned into a great read. Thanks guys. She is so ready to have him out of her it almost isn't funny. I am waiting to wake up to a wife doing squats and jumping up and down really soon. She has been eating spicy food, going on long walks, and all the other bs she reads on the internet. I on the other hand am just ready to be able to hold him and know everything is good. I really appreciate the input on the Maxpedition and will let everyone know how it works as a diaper bag. And don't worry I already have a RAT for him. I love my HEST but I think he will like it more. I guess it will make a great diaper bag knife.

I remember thinking my son was going to be a kickboxer, I would put my hand on him and he was really kicking her bad. :D

To look and see this lump appear and the wifey is turning green man, he was really pelting her...enjoy it 'cause let's face facts, if men had the babies, we would have died off some time before the birth of Jesus. :D

if she's REALLY interested in having the baby email me. I'll tell you everything i know about inducing labor. ;)

I think we are all...possibly quite glad...that this offer came in the form of an E-mail interaction... :D

i figured i'd spare the details :D. i mean if ya'll really want to know............i could just say it here. i have no shame :D

Thank you Mrs. Shotgunner11 but I think I will have to pass. While I hate to see her in pain and annoyed constantly, I think I like the fact that I still have a few days before having to wake up constantly because of a crying baby. By the way I love this forum. Talk about knives, gear, and even pregnancy tips for the wifey. Maybe I need to get her a pink Izula and try to get her into knives. Maybe I can get one engraved with a Kate Spade or Coach logo and get her an alligator sheath to get her interested. What do you think? I know for me it just takes being sharp and well made, but for her the logo may work.

We're both on the same frequency, I'm almost certain. You have to be careful though, you can put dents in a baby's head you know. ;)
