I'm thinking about getting a new watch... I'm looking at a Doxa, though the Seamaster Planet Ocean caught my eye too.

Anybody know anything about places to get a Doxa? Is it one of those watches that you'll never get below MSRP? I'm ok with that, I just dont want to find out later some place sells 'em significantly cheaper...

Anybody have anything they hate about 'em that I should be aware of?

I'm looking at the 5000t. If Jerry doesn't open the store soon, I may buy one just to satisfy my need to BUY.

Thanks guys!

PS Anything else I should consider? I will be using the watch while Scuba Diving...

I currently have wear a Marathon GSAR.

NO REGRETS

I'm partial to Omega. I have a nice gold Omega from the 60's currently in need of a new band.

there are some great watch forums; timezone and watchuseek might be good places to start.

Ive browsed in both of them... But I figured you guys had better taste. And knew what 'tough' really meant... =)

The only place I know you can buy a Doxa is from Doxa. I think they're ok, but way over-priced for what they are. Why not the standard, a Rolex Submariner, if you want something that will stand up to abuse? Or if you don't want to spend that much, it's hard to beat the Seiko auto divers.

.

I've got a couple of Omega Speedmasters and I love then!

Yeah I've been looking at the Seiko's, but I like orange, and like the idea of the original Orange Watch. Also The Rolex is a lot more expensive, but it is neat... but they dont seem as "young"... NO OFFENSE INTENDED...

I saw the CSAR! Neither my TSAR or GSAR has held up very well. The bezel marker came out on one, and a spring pin that holds the bracelet to the case bent/broke on the other. But I love the Tritium!

Edited to add: Thats a great pic porkducci.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Mark II, (Manual). OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra, (Automatic). Both stainless w/ black face. My next one will be the Speedmaster reduced automatic, also SS/black. Pete

Yeah, I wish more mfgs used tritium for illumination. Crappy lume is what keeps me from buying plenty of other nice watches out there. (maybe that's a good thing!)

Glad we've got ppl with taste (omega's) here!

You know if James Bond wears one, it must be good!

Mikeymoto, have you checked out some of the Balls, they're a little to busy for me, but they use Tritium vials, which is a huge PLUS.

You can get a Seiko in orange. They make a few versions, but the one similar to the 007 is my favorite. Google SKX011J I can point you to a good place to buy one if you're interested.

While I'd agree with Rolex not looking as 'young' if it was a Datejust or President, the Submariner is a classic and works for anyone.

You might also want to look at MK II Watches (Bill Yao), he has some cool designs and you can customize them like you want.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Omega Seamaster. I bought a Seamaster Chronograph (automatic) about four years ago and it is my favorite watch. It's a solid heavy watch that keeps good time catches other peoples eye more than any other watch I have.

What manufacture dates? Some of the early runs had some trouble. My latest run TSAR is holding up great!

Take a look at the Bathys Benthic.
I have a Bathys Aquaculture and the big numbers and lume are great!

I've also been drawn to the Stowa ProDiver.

Right now I'm most curious as to which PAM Jerry teased us with in the AHS-1 LE pic.

From everybody i talk to the pin problem was a fluke... I tried to send it back, but Fed Ex "lost it". I got that TSAR about two years ago

Apparently the Marathons are known to lose the triangle marker from time to time when subjected to rough conditions, so My GSAR from Apr 06 is currently wihtout it. It does keep exceptional time losing just 2 or 3 seconds a day!

Yes, the triangle is very large. Other watches with triangles that large tend to be prone to a similar problem. Bill Yao solves it on the latest watches he is making by offering the option of having the triangle split with an extra support down the middle. Not as clean looking, but a lot tougher.

But, hey, it's really visible while it's there!
