Off Topic: Fine Watches

It really depends on your taste, and when/where you are going to wear it.

I have a really nice Baume and Mercier, but it is my "sporty" watch.

For dress up, I definitely will wear my Armand Nicolet or my Breitling (with a leather strap, not stainless).

My ultimate watch is the Breguet, but if Jerry keeps putting out more INFI, it ain't gonna happen. :-)

Omegas are great. I have an original seamaster (circa 1995-6) which has never been serviced and maintains incredible accuracy. I have several more that are great but none at that level. My favorite watch is my Concord impressario with Zenith El primero movement. IMO it is the best looking watch ever made with the El Primero movement. It wasn't cheap, but it was 2/3 the price of A rolex Daytona(11K) with the same movement. But I never wear it cuz it's too pretty.

I like my Seamaster Aqua Terra. The co-axial escapement allows it to be nearly half the thickness of my Speedmaster for less bulk and the simple date only dial is elegant, uncluttered and give me all the info that I usually need. (I buy mechanicals because, for me, they far outlast the quartz type.) Very happy with it. Pete

and because you have good taste.

My watch buying days are over in fact, I will probably be moving some of the nicer ones, due to funds, oh well. My omega is a beater and will stay with me.

Breitling Superocean Steelfish X-Plus. I'd have to part with quite a few knives but this one talks to me.

Go for one of Seiko's "Monster" series auto divers. I have the Orange monster and it is sweet for the price. Bullet proof bezel and case and a great stainless bracelet. Check watchuseek forums.

You guys suck. I dont mean tha jokeingly, you guys are enablers really all of you. Instead of helping me find a cheap place to score a Doxa, you've reinforced my desire for other watches.

I'm partial to the Sinn U2, but they are hard to come by. I like the seiko Dive watch series, and someday would like to get one with the Spring Dive, (I think its called) movement. I like Breitlings, and I love both the Speedmaster and Seamaster.

Great if your goal was to get me to put all my Infi on the exchange, you're close to succeeding. You Hogs are a crafty bunch.

Thats a classic Ironballs, in fact what kind of watch do you currently wear? In the Spirit of Hogdom, I may trade you that watch brand new for the whatever you wear and A Busse of your choice from your collection. Other people would demand they get to choose the Busse, in case you wear something like a Rolex or Fortis that would only cover a fraction of CA5061V intrinsic, value, but not I sir. PM to arrange shipping...

Some of my all time favorites from the days I was better known as "TheWatchCollector" ;)

And I agree 100% camp out at timezone, watchnet, and thepurists look for good deals.

Most of them were sold to come up with the down payment on my house :(

Greg,

I coud look at those pictures all day, simply beautiful both the photo's and (obviously) the watches. You (along with most others here) have very good taste.

I'm tellin you, the Busse Forum Kool-Aide is the BEST.

Yeah I've been looking at the Seiko's, but I like orange, and like the idea of the original Orange Watch. Also The Rolex is a lot more expensive, but it is neat... but they dont seem as "young"... NO OFFENSE INTENDED...

Young? I own 11 Rolex sport watches. GMT, GMT II, SEA DWELLER(my everyday watch), tutone SUB, tutone SERTI SUB, etc etc and they will always be the gold standard in fine watches! Rolex manufactures their watches with only the finest totally automated systems. Fear not, human hands will never touch your watch until you open the box the first time.

Go with Sinn!

Yes, I got the 142 two years ago, after wearing my Submariner every day for 27 years. Then I got a great deal on an Eilux triple winder. I knew there was a reason I got the triple, because just today, with the money I'm saving by NOT getting three ASH-1, this is on my wrist

Omega Seamaster is one I've owned for about 5 years and had to have cleaned and lubricated about 2 years ago. Great watch.

Lately my favorite is a Casio G-Shock with solar power and "wave ceptor" which periodically receives radio transmissions to update the accurate time. You should at least take a look at this latest technology which gives you split-second time accuracy.
