  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Off Topic...moving into our new "survival" home!

wow.. congrats on your property Rock... it looks perfect...you lucky dog...

that is a big ol' "lake monster" of a beaver.. that thing is huge...

Rock6 - why plant bamboo? You do know it is incredibly invasive and virtually impossible to remove (without taking the topsoil with it) once it's taken hold?

Fantastic! Isn't it wonderful when you can wake up on a saturday and open up your beer with a .40s&w!

That looks like a great place Rock. Congrats on the homestead. I'd love to have a place with a pond like that. I've eaten beaver (not even trying to make a joke). Its not bad. Nothing, I go out of my way for, but its certainly edible.

Thanks for the recipie Joe! I'll have to give that a shot. We went out on the boat this evening and there are six monster beavers still hanging out. I'll wait until I do a little more research as I told my son it's easy to kill, but takes effort to skin, gut and prep it for cooking. Hopefully over the next few weeks before I go back to work, we'll make a beaver roast:D

Yeah, my wife already posted pictures on Facebook and some of her relatives were getting a few jokes in:D

I need to get the tackle out; this is rolling with bass:eek::thumbup:

if you lop off the beaver tail, and prop it vertical and wire tie it off against two rebars driven into the ground, and then get a nice bed of coals with a log reflector going, the tail will blacken, crackle and cook. Dont get too hot with the fire the tail is FULL of flammable oils. Scraped off the blackened parts and eat the white meat. Its extremely rich , a small amount will quickly fill you up. Its a good "fuel" food to eat prior to turing ing in on a cold winters night outside, its similar to seal blubber.

That's something I'll have to try....hmmmmmmm...:D

That is great, Congratulations Rock!

Enjoy, and don't forget to put up pics of those bass to rub them in my face when you get a chance to snag a few!

Ha! Will do...my Brother-in-Law already said he was going to drive up (6 hours) Christmas Day to "help" me fish the lake. I need to get out in the next few days. Unfortunately, I'm a fly-fishing/top water guy. I need to learn how to do worms...
