Ask not for whom the Gunyon tolls, it tolls for thee.

It is my understanding that due to all of the difficulties Guyot has had, all production on almost everything has stopped and as a result places are sold out of darn near everything. No idea when they will get that sorted out. Hopefully it is just that and not the precursor to them going out of business.

Got it. I'm just terrible at auctions. I always lose right at the last second.

Flexxx, I'll give the Klean Kanteens a look. Thanks.
clich, sorry about the auction. You gotta go balls up at the last second to do the best damage.

Kleen Canteen has started making wide mouth bottles - same opening size as the guyot, up to 40oz. specifically states that the same water filters that would screw directly onto the guyot will work with their new "wide" bottles.

If only they would make one that is 32oz instead of 40. The guyots were the only ones I have seen in stainless that were right at 32oz.

Would rather have a 40 then a quart...

We know.

I have 2 of the 40 oz clean canteen steel canteen bottles.
I like mine, but the space saving cups dont work with them because they are bigger than the cups.

Scrape the edges off from a normal benchstone until it is round enough.

Seriously though, recurve sharpening without a rod might prove to be a pain in the ass. I've heard of people sticking adhesive backed sandpaper to wooden dowels or plastic pipes to use for sharpening recurved blades.

Not buying recurved knives might help too.

Just wanted to throw a couple of pics out here that I took last friday, I'll put some more up over the next few days.

Quick hike to the lake and back to the yard, then some pork filet with toasted ciabatta bread. delicious.

BK-7 is really starting to grow on me.

I sharpened a Kershaw Blur with a Smith guided sharpener once. It worked okay with the finer grits, but the coarse ones chattered a lot and roughed up the edge. It lost some recurve too.

Then I ordered some silicon carbide rods so I could follow the curve instead of change it.

Like maethor said the edge of a benchstone might work.

Another possibility is a retractable diamond pocket sharpener.
