I finally found a good thermos for outdoor hikes this winter. I was looking for something that would fit in a 12x5 Maxpedition carrier.
This one-quart Stanley Outdoor Thermos fits the bill. Enough hot chocolate for the whole family when we take short winter hikes.

Did a number of short hikes with the boy today, and the murse saw more trail time.
I really like the second mag pouch I added for the GPS. Works great.
Also, I figure that, if I post enough pictures of this thing, Ethan might send off payment on those Becker patches. :D

I'm really starting to like those ESEE patches. I'm also thinking that since I can't get a Beckerhead patch I might as well get an ESEE patch. I need to represent one of my knives on my pack, might as well be with a patch :)

You mean ESEE has patches?? I'm gonna get a couple for my new hat and matching murse.

Is this comfortable to carry? How much do you think it weighs with your average load?

Nice Thermos there Guyon. I was going through some of my dads things and found some old school thermos love. Check out these old boys.

It's very comfortable.
I carry it with the strap diagonal on on my right shoulder (pack on left hip).
With a full 1 L Nalgene, load out is 7 pounds.
