That was about $80 in material, and like I said, 2 people 2 1/2 hours to do. I already had some wood, so it only cost me $48. In new wood, that is.

You know what they say about $48 worth of new wood...

I'm afraid to ask, haha. :D

I might have to do something similar. Some shelves along the back might free up a bit of space.
I was originally gonna put a loft in there, but this is so much more convenient. The shelves are 2 ft wide. Just ripped 4x8 sheets of OSB. To me, a loft is a place to put stuff you never use/need, so you might as well get rid of it.

That's so neat it's disgusting Dubs. The neatness gene is one I didn't get.

Well if I sell all my guns I might be able to get one.

I've often thought of selling the GI and another to be able to get one. I hate selling guns once I get them, unless I really don't like it. Right now I don't have any that I don't like. Well...maybe the Ruger M77 Mark II, but I'm still undecided on that one.

1911? Another Springfield 1911 GI here. Some day it'll turn into a TRP.

I'm not a neat freak per se, but I do like to be organized somewhat. The 1x's on the left were already there, to hold the frame/trusses up. I used them to hang most all my lawn and garden tools on. I made hangers to hang my hand saws, etc on. Worked out well. Some places I put a 2x4 across two of the studs, then put my axes and stuff behind them, etc.

Thanks its a CMP Garand that I got at the store in Ohio. Kind of beat up but its a 1942 Winchester I wish it could tell some stories.

Is it true that you have to have some sort of membership to get a CMP M1? Rumor is there will be a lot more available through them soon.

The site describes what it takes to be allowed to buy one. Pretty much, you have to be either military, or a member of a CMP sanctioned gun club or shooting range. Those kinds of clubs and ranges are more common than you think. Read up on it. And, like Psyop did, sometimes you can get them at a gun shop. I remember when they were a lot cheaper. But then again, that's pretty much true of everything.

You have to jump through a few hoops but it is well worth it. For me it was easy military meets all requirements, but you can join the Garand collectors club and you have to have formal shooting training of some sort. CCW, NRA classes something. GOing to the store is the best way the since you can pick it your self, otherwise you kind of get what they send you.

I got mine at the CMP store in Ohio. Really kind of a funny story. My dad and I drove 12 hours to get there and got a room. First thing in the morning we are pulling into the parking lot and my wife calls. She went into labor 4 weeks early. Of course I wasnt leaving without my Garand since I was all ready there. Told the nice ladys what the deal was and we went to the front of the line. Grabbed this rifle and my dad got a Winchester carbine. We hit the road hauled ass to Chicago I book a flight to KC from the road. Well we had to go to Midway not the nicest part of town. To boot we have 2 rifles and 1k of ammo in the trunk. My dad was a bit nervous to say the least. He kind of thought we might end up on the news with the airport police. Anyway I make it back to KC and to the hospital with about 30 mins to spare. :) Some day I think I will give my son the rifle I got on his birthday.
