Noice pack! I just pulled the trigger on a Deuter Freerider Pro 30 in black. Can't wait to get home and strap on the skiis this winter!

I'm eyeing a Kelty Raven too, but I'll sell my 5.11 MOAB10 if I go there. Deuter makes great stuff, very light!

Went on a little evening hike tonight to test out my new tarp shelter and bk16 sheath. Both passed w flying colors :)

Was never really a huge fan of Nugent (as in actually bought any material) but Cat Scratch Fever was the very first song I learned to play, guys gotta be what 80 now?? :) and still shredding..

52 deg riding the Harley to work this morning!! A little bit invigorating!! Wow!!
I love the Nuge. Takes me waaaay back to my college days. What I can remember of those days.

Sweet! My c&r ffl came in yesterday. That's about four weeks faster than expected.

Nate
That's sweet. Something that I have thought about but never actually tried to put in process. Good for you!!!!

It's really simple to do. You fill out two forms, send a copy of one to your local police chief, and pay $30. I figure just in the discounts from Brownell's and Graf & Son's alone it would be worth it.

Just finished my first work out in 6 1/2 years. Although I didn't go crazy on my first time back, I got a decent one in. Feels great. I was surprised by what I was still capable of after all this time. I guess the Pepsi and brownies maintained my strength, haha. :D

Seriously Dubz, you really need to cut back/out the Pepsi in your diet man. That stuff is poison in a can. I know it ain't easy (year 8 recovering Mt. Dew-aholic here) but it can be kicked, even by something as trivial as switching to a different soda.

Glad you are getting back to the lifting though. The way you have talked about it for the last year, seems it was one of the better influences in your life.

Yeah, I've given up sodas for the most part. Unsweet tea or water here. About one drink every day or two--beer or vodka or bourbon. That's about it.

I do still drink way too much Pepsi, admittedly, but I have cut back, and have been drinking more decaf tea.

I've lifted weights on and off for years. This is the longest stretch of not lifting though. Feels great to get back into it again. It has been a positive influence in my life. My son is finding this same thing out. He started a year and a half ago. He's gone from 130lbs, to 172 in that time, at 5% body fat. That's a monumental task. He eats a minimum of 6 meals per day, sometimes as high as 9. He's always been very dedicated to whatever he gets interested in. He loves it, and wants to compete in body building one of these days.

That stuff is poison in a can.

I've taught myself that excessive sweetness tastes like diabetes. :barf:
That covers artificial sweeteners too, which not only taste weird (and gross as per above), but are also not real food and thus ineligibile for consumption.

ETA: I also remind myself (it's long automatic by now) how bad I'll feel once the sugar hit passes through me, and the unpleasant feeling in my mouth.

zero-calorie no-sweetener slightly flavored (natural) seltzer with a splash of real juice is a fine substitute.
None of that 'juice drink' crap which is just an excuse for corn syrup.

I'm in the process of kicking Dr Pepper of my diet. I realized that my chronic cough I had for years has been triggered by sugar. I've also dropped 15lbs since getting off of it, too. I'm perfectly happy with water and milk, but the urge for a soda hits strong every few days. I can usually just look at the old worn out notch on my belt to talk myself out of it.

I confess to the occasional (half a dozen per year?) Virgil's Root Beer, but generally I'll only drink half a bottle at a time.

When I gave up Mtn. Dew, I had headaches for a week. It was worth it though, because I lost 10lbs. the first year without even trying. Just the absense of soda was enough to shed a little baby fat. Admittedly I enjoy soda, but I just enjoy it too much. I've got an overly addictive personality and I'll drink it in excess.
