Anybody that's a khukuri owner can come by at least once. After I observe your weapons handling (and I'm really talking about safety) you might or might not be invited back! After all these years, I'm back to hunting by myself. Too many stupid men that have wanted to drink on the deer stand or who crossed the line with their shotgun on a flushing quail. I plan to spend my whole life in the company of guns but I don't have any desire to have any bullet holes in me.
I've been trying to get Terry and Yvsa out here. It seems like Terry could find some wood to make handles with and Yvsa would expand my knowledge of what plants are growing here.
Did I mention that I did get a deer? I shot a young buck in the last 15 minutes of gun season. He fell about 200 yards from the house. I must have seen 2 or 3 dozen deer that day but nothing with horns. Good thing I had an antlerless permit. He's in the freezer (cut up) right now. Next week we are going to have to try him out.
Can't say I blame you, Gregg, for keeping an eye on your hunting companions who are strangers. I've seen hunters come in from the field so drunk they could hardly walk and who needs or wants this?

Surely that's illegal!? Anybody know what the police would do to some dumba** that would hunt drunk? BTW my next door neighbor and his friend used to sit back to back on their lawn with a cooler and shoot doves with 12 ga. shotguns! Better not try that now that I live within range
I've hunted since I was 12...let's see now..that'd be over 30 years ago, and I've seen some of the stupidest people while hunting. On a pheasant hunt, I was shot with #6 shot from about 60 yards because this guy wouldn't take his eye off the bird and followed it right at me..good thing I turned my back
......I've been "glassed" while Elk hunting by rifle scopes, I've seen people to drunk to walk, carrying rifles. I've seen "hunters" smokin' wacky weed. I've seen 2 guys almost shoot each other arguing over who actually shot a duck. I saw a guys German Shorthair get hit with shot.
I don't hunt much anymore. But when I do, I go as far away from people as I can. I lived in Montana for 10 years and it was heaven.
But here in Washington, it's crazy...
There are just too many people who should never even touch a firearm.
Hope I'm not too late to contribute, but I just found this pic - combines the high spiritedness of the do-it-yourselfer with the down-to-earth practicality of multi-task weapons :
It's just your basic 2x4 with a Vaquero receiver, and a mil-surp M2 barrel. Khukuri of choice duct taped to the bow (front, whatever) and VOILA! A homemade .50 cal assault/trench warfare rifle. While you've got the tape out, stick on a scope and flashlight for those snipe hunting forays after hours.
Admittedly, CCW processors may look down on the design as being TOO aggressive. But Yvsa, you're a big guy, and if you wear large trenchcoats frequently, chances are it'll pass muster.
They're working on a bullpup version for you windbreaker wearers out there. I'll let ya know how it sorts out.
Got a couple of new guys in the cantina lately, so just in case anybody might suffer from the delusion that any of us are sane... (see the picture above
)
That'll cure any delusions of sanity!
BTW, I love it!
