I see a lot of great choices, but went with the Ironwood group (for now). I would also be very interested in Stag or Elk, but they're each paired up with Horn choices. Would it not make sense to have an antler pair together, and also the horn pair together for this first step?
Though it makes sense in hind site, my brain could only handle the urge to get the poll posted quickly, and pondering perfect pairings for so long. o_O;) After an hour, it's just time to hit submit. Sadly, the poll cannot be modified to rectify this inequity.

Elk and stag are much more similar to each other. Elk and buffalo (or stag and ram horn) aren't similar at all. I think a lot of folks who like stag will also like elk. Splitting them now rather than later may not result in a very representative result. I think buffalo and ram would not get many votes if they were grouped together.

Also, grouping all the woods together would probably give wood a better shot at winning. Splitting the woods up may not give them much of a chance to get a majority vote.

In my opinion....any of these could be good... in no particular order... Delrin, diamondwood, real wood, elk, stag, carbon fiber, micarta.

It really depends on the difference in price. Also, stag and elk are favorites but it really depends on the quality. There is a LOT of variation in elk and stag. So some folks may get real nice elk or stag and others might get not so nice stuff. Wood and synthetics are much more homogeneous. Lots of good choices. Just got to weigh the pros and cons.

supratentorial supratentorial Dymondwood/Diamondwood I don't want but that is just because it is again a very plain Jane material. I know G10 has been used before and Delrin too but they can be customized in ways to make them special with texture and color options. None of this means any material is bad just some don't feel special and the BF knife should feel special.

Thought I'd leave this here as well:

Maybe this was asked before in one of the original threads, but if there's anyone who can speak to the thickness of Buck's stag or elk I'd appreciate it. I'm okay with variations, but I am not a fan of the super thick handles that can occur sometimes.

That would make the knife even more personally yours beside being a forum knife. The 2014 Stag Jack had such a wide of texture & color made it more yours IMHO

I'm in for elk right now. But this is a tough one. So many good options. Of course stag is always an excellent route to go. Would also be super happy with snakewood, koa, burl, and ironwood. Of the synthetics, I'd be most likely to get behind carbon fiber.

It's a big NO for me though on buffalo and rams horn. I've had problems with dermastid beetles chewing holes in those materials

Usually I want wood first, micarta second, and everything else third, but on this knife I want ELK!!!

It is all about the right material for the right knife, and keeping the recent forum knife covers in mind, and when you do that, the elk stands clearly as the best option (in my opinion, which no one else has to agree with).

I love some of the wood options. Stag is usually great, as well as elk. Buffalo or Rams horn can be very eye catching. High grade Pearl is very niiice. Jigged bone is very traditional and classy. I'm OK with any of these.

I just can't behind the synthetic materials. I'm sure they're great and hold up well, but visually they are not appealing to me at all. I don't own a single Micarta or G-10 or Carbon Fiber knife.
