We could have another poll for the re-naming! It can't be 301, or 302 or 303. Maybe something like 301.1. Preston

It may seem odd, but it's far more common (traditional) than two long pulls.

I originally voted for pull/pull, imagining how the long pulls look on the old Camillus-made Bucks. Then I saw the pic that @supratentorial posted of a long pull cut by Case, and switched to pull/nick. I'm sure either way will be nice; I can't imagine this option being a deal breaker. (not like brass bolsters ;))
I thought these great pics of how nice and traditional the LP/nick combo looks deserved to be carried over to page 5 here.

That short sheepfoot is gonna look strange with a long pull. Maybe we could get someone to photoshop it up or something so everyone could at least take a little look at it.

A long pull on a Sheepfoot would look ok if the blade also has a cut swedge - kinda like a TC Barlow. I don't know if this will be the case on these blades using CPM 154. A main Clip blade with long pull, and w/o a swedge is something I'm used to seeing on traditional pocket knives. Does anyone have any pics of a long pull sheepfoot sans swedge?

My nomination for a name for this knife is:

Stockrat!

It isn't a stockman, it is lacking the third blade. It isn't a muskrat, the secondary blade is not full length. But it is kind of a fun tweener. Thus, the Stockrat.

Hmmm ... "Stockrat" ... Could be a fitting name.
I used to be responsible for ordering and putting out the retail stock at a couple stores.

This knife seems like a 301 with 2 blades... thus a Buck "201" :)

Traditional??? Long pull on short secondary blades are quite rare on slip joints.
Buck made 301s have nail nicks only (no long pulls).
(It would be interesting to know Buck's reasoning for this.)

Even if long pulls are more desirable (these days) short secondary blades are still better suited with a nail nick for both practical and aesthetic reasons.

I'm still having a difficult time imagining what a long pull on that short sheepsfoot would look like. Does anyone know if Buck has ever done this? I'm afraid it will look odd. At the very least, it's a risk, as we don't know what exactly the long pull will look like on that short secondary sheepsfoot.

I know a lot of folks prefer long pulls over nail nicks, and I'm all for the long pull on the main blade, but as other have urged, just think about it if your current vote is long/long.

Also, if you're a nick/nick voter... well, obviously that's not going to happen. My condolences. But if you change your vote to long pull on the clip and nail nick on the sheepsfoot, at least you'll get one nail nick. :D

Man, this is getting close! I love it!
As some have mentioned, not all long pulls are created equally. While it can be done classy, there are a lot more examples that just look downright odd. Long pull/ nick is pretty straight forward.
Do you really want to roll the dice?

Hmmm, I just got a stockman today that has a long pull on both the main clip point blade and the sheepsfoot, and the sheepsfoot is smaller than the clip but bigger than the third blade (which is a pen blade on this knife). Sorry, folks. I'm still in the double long pull camp.

Close race! Looks like my vote for the pull/nick is losing by 16.

Here's an example from Boker with a pull but no swedge. That's a clip though. Will see if I can find a sheepfoot.

I guess I need to put my vote back to pull/pull.
That don't look half bad.

Pull/pull or pull/nick works for me.

Only 19 votes apart. Come on you 22 nick/nick voters. You could at least have one! :D :D

I like your glass half full philosophy.

It might just save us in the "nick" of time!

I have about 30 stockman knives. Out of those I have half a dozen with a long pull clip, including knives from Camillus, Schrade, Utica, and Queen. All of them have nail nicks for the other blades. The rest of my stockman knives have nail nicks on all three blades.

I don't really care whether we have a nick on the clip blade or not. But I think a long pull on the sheepsfoot will be odd looking. Buck is not known for strong springs. So it will be functional, but odd looking nevertheless.
