So, almost every Jack knife ever made looks like a "dirt trap"? lol

Now you come to mention it....:D:D Unless of course they have a wraparound spring  But that's why Pens, three blades and singles are better than plodder Jacks ;)

When it comes to the stockman pattern, I do not care for the spey on the same end as the clip. The tip of the spey is exposed when the sheepsfoot is open.

??? On the 303 at least, when the Sheepfoot is open the Spey's tip is not exposed, and anyway, the Clip is still in place further protecting the tip. Or do you open the Clip as well as the Sheepfoot?:D:D Don't understand your meaning.o_O

Thanks, Will

I was referring to the 301. While the clip may afford you some protection from the exposed tip of the spey blade, why have it exposed at all, when a better option exists?

Since it appears you don't care to hear my preference and opinion , I will bow out of the discussion and further participation in a BF knife this year.

If Buck can put the sheepsfoot on the same side as the clip on the jack, why can't it be done on the stockman?

I never said it couldn't be done, I said the offering is the standard Buck configuration . As respectfully as possible, this isn't my first Rodeo or build with the Forum. At some points in this process I need to make decisions that keep us moving in the same direction. Yes, some people might call me out for "making decisions" but I am choosing to be as transparent as possible, while being accommodating, but also keeping this process moving along. I could say "no, it's not possible" and you'd be none the wiser, but I'm choosing to be honest and upfront. I appreciate the desire to have as many custom options as possible, which is why this poll was redone for the 2 blade changes. I would consider making the request to Buck if you could bring me, say, 50 forumites that also wanted the spey and sheepsfoot on the same end for the 3 blade configuration. As it stands, it looks like the 3 blade options may not even win so it might be a moot point. If the 3 blade does win, we could offer than option in a subsequent poll, if there seems to be enough backing for it. Please understand I'm not trying to squelch this process or control it or anyone's creative passions, just doing my best to keep us moving, and keep everyone excited.:)

I for one appreciate your participation, and would like to hear (or is it read?) your opinions and preferences. :)

As for the partially exposed Spey tip, I believe skblades skblades said in one of the other threads that the Spey blade could be lowered to eliminate the exposed tip?
Perhaps Steve will verify this.

If you're bowing out then that's your decision alone and nothing to do with me caring or not caring to hear your preferences. I merely asked you a question as I was confused as to your meaning.

Though some people voiced they'd rather go from opposite end to 3 Blade rather than have the Jack Option ;)

This is why I can't stress enough the desire to see every poll end with the winner having at least 50% plus 1 vote.
You just can't know (within reason) how the votes will fall when narrowed down to 2 options.
I think this poll at the moment would probably see the 2 blade win, but it is only maybe 10 votes from being a not so sure thing.

That said,
The "2018 Bladeforums Traditional Forum Knife Pairing" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

I would be down for an option to buy a matching set with a standard 3 blade, and the winning 2 blade combo, but then I am going to buy at least two of the winner anyway. Depending on final dressings I might would buy two sets.

Assuming we purchased the required minimum of each, why not?

Buck 309s are double spring opposite ends but very slim and NO blade-rub. Plenty of Moose or Muskrat patterns have double springs etc so the form/function thing is erroneous.
It is form/function. Moose and muskrat have full length secondary blades, don't they? Would a two opposing blades BF knife option being proposed have two full length blades?

I didn’t like how the sheepsfoot blade felt in the hand when the clip blade was open on the CSC Forum Knife so I’m not voting for the same setup again this time.

I see what you mean about blade length but in those bigger blade patterns each has a distinct spring&liner, I think the Buck version while having a shorter secondary blade will be like a 309 inside and have no liner.

I jumped off the Jack boat and back aboard the three blade stockman now that the same end ship is losing steam!

I'm not changing votes until I've seen the samples ;) I still like the idea of a Sheepsfoot and Clip on the same end, and while I've been given pause for thought about whether that configuration will work with the frame being offered, I've yet to see anything to change my mind

I’m pretty sure I’m not buying a forum knife, so don’t hate me about this but what about a single clipoint blade 301?
