So riddle me this porch loungers...is one of the objectives for the design of the knife to be a general departure from the norm? I might be missing the point here, given this is my first forum knife dance.

I ask because I see a lot of posts stating things like "X steel would be different" or "this blade combination is very unique" and the like. I understand the point of having something interesting and uncommon but is the objective to produce not a stand-out but rather a never-has-been?
I think the "interesting and uncommon" might have an early lead.
The "never-has-been" would be a three blade Stockman, which is currently running a close 2nd place.
We'll just have to see how the vote goes. :)

I meant never-has-been in the context of "There are (almost) no two bladed stockman knives. Let's make one!"

There have really been no three bladed forum knives? Really??? Whaaaaaat?

I added "Stockman" to my 3 bladed statement.
I know that since I have been a member the forum knives have been either a single or double blade.
As far as I know, there has not been a forum knife with 3 blades, but I don't know if there was ever a 3 blade whittler, for example.
It was stated in one of the other threads that there has never been a 3 bladed Stockman.

Sorry for the confusion. :(

I voted for the two blade jack, but my vote could easily be swayed. I like the jack because it is different from the 2015, but i worry that the short clip will look bad. I don't own a three blade stockman. I loved the 2015 opposite end serpentine. Every option sounds good to me. A full length secondary would be amazing, but that is not an option.

What I really mean is, I am in for at least one of anything. And all the blade options sound great. Except for the spey sheepfoot combo. That would only fly for me if we could get it single spring. Then it would be such a weird knife I would have to love it.

Less common doesn't equate to less traditional. The Schrade Wrangler is a great example of a two blade Jack on a stockman frame.

I really like stockmans, and find them to be great knives. If we end up with a standard 3 blade, I'm cool with that. I just prefer it without the spey.

I'm also cool with my DISH top 200 plan, but would be happier if I could drop the home shopping channels and save money.:)

I'll add the year later but the BF Canal Street Cannitler has 3 blades.

A 3 blade stockman was a prior forum knife.

Forum knives from previous years include a 3 blade stockman and a "Canittler". There has been previous repetition of patterns--we did 2 barlows. Jacks with blades on the same or opposite sides is a broad category. Previous forum knives include both types of jacks... a variety of handles.

In my opinion, the 2 blade with blades on opposite sides would be the best possible choice. 3 blades is regular production--yawn. And blades on the same side would leave a huge space on 1 end because of the short clip blade.

Tight race. Exciting!

I am pulling for the two blade opposing. I prefer the slimmer lighter more pocketable version stockman frame.

I was pulling for the Toronto Raptors as well, so let me have this one guys. :)

My favorite combination and configuration.

The two blade opposite clip and sheepfoot is just a repeat of the CSC BF knife a couple of years ago, is it not?

Would the two blade opposing conficuration be a single spring or a double spring? If double spring, what's the purpose of having opposing blades? Form should follow function.

Interesting discussion folks, certainly plenty to ponder. Be great if we are able to see some samples. I'd still like to see a Jack (actually both options are Jacks ;) ), but noting the points being made against it

The original poll had just 2 vs 3 blade, but it was changed to this poll.

Well, not really, that poll would have just had options of 2-blade rather than 3-blade (which arguably wouldn't have meant a lot). The original poll had options of 2 blade Clip and Spey, 2 blade Clip and Sheepsfoot, 2 blade Spey and Sheepsfoot, and 3 blade Stockman. You're doing a good job

The 2008 Forum Knife was a Small Stockman.

The 2015 knife is not the same as this as it was bolster less Shadow pattern, single-spring. It was stainless (at long last....)

Buck 309s are double spring opposite ends but very slim and NO blade-rub. Plenty of Moose or Muskrat patterns have double springs etc so the form/function thing is erroneous.

Here's a look at the insides of an EE Stockman frame. Top Queen Cutlery's 'Jack' version 2 blades same end. Buck 303 Stockman bottom, and 309 double ended 2 springs, centre. Notice the huge empty space on the Queen, nice dirt trap eh? The Buck 309 is full and tight, the 303 ditto because it is designed to be 3 or 2 non krinked blades each having its own spring and yet being no thicker than many conventional Stockman knives.

I think that Queen looks GREAT! And isn't that a Pen rather than a (presumably longer) Sheepsfoot)? What concerns me is an empty space at the end of the clip blade, rather than the smaller blade - that I can live with
