Official Beckerwest Fall 2014 Oct. 10th-12th

Such a great weekend! What a group of guys to be able to reconnect with, learn from, and laugh with! Great to meet TJ, good to see Bill Jr. Growing into a fine young man. Dan, you were missed--we even had a bucket for you with your name on it ;) Beardlove, Tom, Ryan, Hurly, Jared, Cap'n, Uncle E, you were all missed! Thanks Ethan and Kabar for the box of goodies--I passed a 2 along to my good friend Josiah, part time agriculturalist, leather worker, sailor and scholar. He hasn't owned a Becker before, but I think he saw the holy:

Now to get him set up on the forum....

Thunderbone-Lion out.

Thanks Jonny and Fal'er for getting this set up, and Ethan and and Ka-Bar for the support and blades! Finally got the Must-Have 9!
710, for driving too many hours and managing to not kill us. And being an all-around great guy.
Iron, for the awesome Chili and good conversation.
Oh, and Jonny and Abrasion for the entertainment. And helping me finish my bottle of 15yr. You crazy rooster lovers!

I had a blast, met a ton of great guys - the above, Bill and Billy, Snakedoc & Bro, a few others whose names elude me at this time.
The blister's nearly healed, I may (MAY) be able to start a fire on my own at some point. Thanks for the pointers and help, Nate and John.
I didn't realize WHAT a great weekend it was until I got home and had to put my kitchen back together, take my closet apart, try to get the kids to bed, then unload the car. And go to work in the morning...
Forget it. I'm moving to the woods and hiding out!

Stay cool.

- War Brick Lion.

Here's my fat wood gatherings, still need to clean it up, even the wood on this lights up instantly...

Here are some pics I took. Billy got two sets of scales from 710. The green is outstanding on the Machax and Billy really loves the burlap on his 15! There was some batoning, fire craft, and even a little spoon carving by me :)

Awe man, I really hated that I missed this. I really will try to get out to the Spring Gathering.

Glad you all had a good time.

Looking at those skillets full of bacon goodness in that great patch of God's woods brought a tear to my eye and a real regret that I missed this one...... I am glad everyone had a rollicking good time though and hope to see you all in the spring......

3rd ish week of april 2015. Also, thanks for sending out those stickers.

We had a big ass loaf of bread that was so big, it had to ride shotgun in the 4-Runner! Lol :D
Ethan had brought some the last few times, so we just couldn't do without...

Sorry I don't have any more pics guys...to busy...too much fun...

I can't believe I only took one picture the whole trip, to busy enjoying myself...
My newly acquired Siegle, I really love this knife, it's just a performer.

Couldn't leave out this sweet set up courtesy of 710. This set up is sick and rides like a dream.

Looks like fun. I was bummed to miss it. We were starting to get packed to go and I threw out my back on thursday  . Couldn't really sit in a car for the 6hr drive so I had to bow out and also cancel our cali trip afterwards. The plus side is I was able to catch up on the last two seasons of walking dead. Is it twisted to wish for a zombie apocalypse?

The new steel--

Thanks to uncle E and Kabar for the 9! Thanks to Abrasion for selling me the 5 and to the 710 for some kick ass micarta!

Thanks Bill for selling me my first Siegle--your work is a phenomenal study in simplicity and functional beauty!

forgot to mention that Ironborn's chilli was off the hook! it was a good combo with the johnny1280 passenger bread.

Is it YOUR 1200 acres? No, I think not. And those 1200 acres are used for a hell of a lot more than just 2 Beckerwest get togethers per year. Personally, when I take my kids up there to camp, I don't want to step on someone's shit. So, call me a hippie if I care about keeping that site clean. If you don't want to use a bucket just please dig a hole. Any old hole. It can even be a libertarian hole ;)

there's a great radio lab on what happens in the right conditions when you have "shitting fields"... it's called dun dun dun! hookworm proliferation; the show goes on to explain why outhouses are a grand idea. hookworms will migrate up to 4 feet out of their poopy delivery system, and wait. they die after 7 days. if an outhouse is more 4 feet deep (say 6 feet), they can't crawl out. also, bleah, poop ;)
