Dan, is there any more updates on possible sheaths for this project. I am looking to send in my final payment but I was waiting to see if the sheaths will be a seperate payment to the sheath maker or if you will be adding it on the the price of the blade. Sorry if I missed a previous question like this. I am too lazy to go through 25 pages of threads again....:eek:

JRE will be making the official sheaths - I'll get a final number the closer we get to "go" time. I will have them here and will be shipping them with the knife.

Awesome - thanks Dan. I'm glad the knife and sheath will be a "one stop shopping deal." Will you be having both types made that were featured in the passaround?

Should we be thinking late Feb. on these?

That is good news about the sheaths. Please tell me there will be a lefty one available for your favourite pain in the ass lefty customer?:D

I have put this on the Backburner because I was waiting for more steel to arrive...I got the notice on Friday that it was ready. So, I'll be having it sent to the Waterjet guy this week...add a couple weeks for that to arrive at the CNC guys...and a couple more weeks for that to get finished...and we are now mid-January. I will probably drop everything once they are in and get right on these. handle material will already be cut...just have to glue-up, shape and finish. Probably 2-3 weeks tops. So, end of Jan, early Feb at latest.

That is the plan so far.

Since we're past the end of January and into early Feb., can we have a progress update? Thanks.
 
Sure thing - these blades are all at the machine shop getting ground out. I have no for-sure date....just that the process will be around 4 weeks total. I will begin glue-up as soon as I get them back - these are a very high priority for me to get done.

Great news Dan, but please don't make it a rush job ! I'd rather wait an extra month, it's worth the wait.
 
Agreed. I won't be rushing any of these....

Just that when they come in, they will go to the top of the line.

I see that there are still 2 spots on the budget Bushmaster list.
I want one in green micarta.
I sent you an email but I have not gotten a response (I am sure you are busy)
I just want to see if I can get in on this.
If so please PM me with details of what I need to do to.(If I can get in on the deal)

The CNC guys are busy working away at these, guys.....they are now "in the air" to Paul Bos for heat-treat. When they get back....looking at 2 weeks to get 'em done and sent to me.

So, based on what I have been told, we are looking at 4-6 weeks until I start rolling them off the shelf here. When they get here they will be PRIORITY NUMBER ONE...no worries there!! :D :eek: :p
