*Official* SpyderNation Introduction Thread

I respect his honesty also, but I insisted that he join the group anyway. He is a welcome contributor who makes his posts count. Thanks for letting me convince you Singularity35 and welcome aboard!

Me neither lol, I really meant it to be an Intro for the club and General info regarding it. But if you guys want to do it like an AA meeting, that's ok too!

Awesome, the more the merrier.

Edit: Not sure where the rest of that post came from, is it supposed to be there?

I will definitely apply for becoming a Spydercitizen. I'm Oskar and I've collected knives for about five years now. I mainly use them for camping and hiking and whenever I need a knife for mundane tasks. I have 9 Spydercos and 3 Byrds so far. I'm pretty sure I have enough posts in the Spyderco subforum even though I don't know for certain how many I have, but either way I have more than 50 in the Spyderco.com forum.

If you look at your profile, there is a tab that says"Post Areas". Click on that and you can see that you have over 750 posts in the Spyderco sub-forum. I guess since I have over 2,250 posts here and 7 Spyderco knives on my person at the moment I'd probably qualify.

Hi, my name is Adam. I have an addiction. *group welcomes me* I am addicted to sharp, shiny and pointy things. Mostly from spyderco... :D

Yablanowitz: You'd be eligible either way, if you didn't have the 50 posts; you've been a member of bf long enough to bypass the qualifications lol :)

A little Spyderco love

Lol...
Well we are addicted to something, so why not? =]

Yab, you and the cute angry puppy in your avatar are more than welcome to join. =]

I bought my first Spyderco when they first came out, it was a Worker, since then I've bought many first from then.

I've been a member of BFC and the Spyderco' s forum for a very long time, thanks for doin' this and I look forward to bein's active member.

1) Must own at least one Spyderco (I own at least 15-20)
2) Have at least 50 posts on the Spyderco sub-forum. Exceptions will be made at an as per case basis. Generally, Basic or above members with 5 years of membership on BF but do not post often at all and find it difficult to reach 50 posts, may be eligible to skip #2 requirement. I’ll be charged with deciding who qualifies or not at least for now. I wont be out to turn anyone down so let me know your case. Also, Spyderco.com forum posts, count into the 50 subforum posts. (59 posts in the Spyderco forum here and a bunch on BfC in general)

1. Read this first: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1032273-*Official*-SpyderNation-Introduction-Thread (Yes I did)
2. Reserve your post slot. Everything you will need to do should only be on this one post. (did that, I hope)
3. State that you have read Introduction thread in its entirety on your post.(I have read the entire introduction post)
4. State your combined post total between the Spyderco sub-forum, and the Spyderco.com forum.(Over 50, I'll have to check the Spyderco forum for a total)
5. Share a picture of your Spyderco knife/knives
6. Request your number. You may request to have a number reserved but you must complete requirements in a reasonable amount of time. (#8 or 33)
7. If you request an exception for requirement #2, do so and PM/email me with your case.
8. Once you are cleared, you get a welcome post.

Hey everyone, My names Matt and I'm 16. I love Spyderco knives and I'm happy to be in the group :) thanks for setting this up you guys/girls.

I'm glad to see that this has gotten off the ground despite the somewhat rocky start. I've been following the posts in the preceding threads leading up to this, and it was great to see the support and resolve coming from individuals that wouldn't have known each other were it not for this common interest.

I admit, that I was put off by the aesthetics of Spyderco knives when I first handled them many years ago during the early '90s. I had gotten a Police, an Endura, and a couple of Dragonflies, all serrated in black FRN. I really tried to like these knives, but I just couldn't. They were so different from the other knives I had which were fixed blades, and mostly traditional Japanese tantos with a couple of Tameshigiri katanas (I only have one katana now, and a couple of the tantos). I gifted my Spydercos to my friends who were EMTs at the time, and they absolutely loved them. They had clips, cut seat belts and tough fabric like butter, and worked well with gloved hands. I thought, well good for them, at least they can put them to good use as part of their kit.

My re-entry into Spydercos came via a Native with FRN handles and I disliked it right away for the old reasons that I had, except this was PE. But I carried it a bit and found that it was extremely comfortable, light, and the S30V steel was great. It was then that I started to get it. Someone here said that your hand sees what your eyes can't when it comes to Spydercos, and they were absolutely right. I got rid of that Native, and got a Military to see what the hype was all about and it was all over from there. The Spyderhole has become my favorite method of blade deployment, especially after I had to use my left hand when I had tendonitis in my right for a while. I have my favorite models when it comes to the different knife brands, like the Emerson CQC-10, Benchmade 581 Barrage, ZT0200, and my Spyderco Ti Military M4. Out of all those favorites, the Military is without question #1 for me, so much so that I even got another Ti Military and the CF M390 just so I could swap the M390 blade into it, and have another Ti Military standing by for when/if I get an S90V. I feel it's that good, even over everybody's favorite Spyderco, the PM2.

In some ways, my favorite Spyderco still is the Shabaria. But the two I carry most often are the Military and Native, with the UKPK getting a lot of time as well. So much variety! Keep them all around, sometimes a wallflower is just the Spyder for a quiet dance ...

? Well, all right. You guys are getting a liittle weird. These things can be very positive. Yet become very much a clique. Like Facebook. "Shiny footprints". Stay humble.

Minorng - Welcome!
We'd love to have you. =]
You're more than welcome, just head over to the sign up thread.
You can post the comment needed and grab your number.

Aidansdaddy - We're doing all we can to keep this from turning into a high school clique. Like I've said before. I wasn't in a clique then, I don't want to be in one now.

Hey everyone,

I'm Clint. I only been into knives for the past year (almost exactly 1 year!) and must say that Spyderco quickly became my favorite knife maker. I actually made a list the other day of all of the knives that I have bought and sold this past year in search of my "one" knife. I think that list included roughly 30 Spyderco knives ranging from a few Byrds and value line folders, up through PM2's, centofante 4's and an orange Dodo. But, after picking up a Southard flipper, I now have found MY one knife. I do have a Chokwe that I won't ever want to let go of, but those be my only two Spyderco's. I'll gladly be signing up for a spot in this group and look forward to chatting it up with you all.
