*Official* SpyderNation Introduction Thread

Hi folks - I have been a Bladeforums member since 2009 and am a Spyderco fanatic. In that time I have owned 65 Spydercos (yes, I keep records on this) and have been trying to control my addiction by paring my collection down to 28 currently. The only folder that I have that is not Spyderco is one small Al Mar model. I am also "mikerestivo" on Spyderco Forums and have been active there as well as here. Looking forward to signing up.

I am down for this idea, though I am nowhere close to the post count you are requesting in the Spyderco forums or BF subforum. I honestly just don't feel the need to post all the time, I read a lot and talk a little. I do own more Spyderco knives by far than any other brand. Have been a fan since around 96 when I got my first Spyderco and promptly cut myself with it. Guess I will work on more posts so I can join up with some like minded folks.

Sup dudes, and welcome. Hope you enjoy your time with us here as much as I do. I learned a lot from being around here. Great knives, great peeps for sure.

Welcome to all the newer people :D I might as well introduce myself properly.

My name is Adam I am 19 years of age. I've liked knives for as long as I can remember. I only started collecting them recently. In 3 years I've only gathered up about 30 or so low end knives and just 3 spyderco. Spyderco has since become my number once choice though. More recently I've been looking at high end production spyderco's also brands like CRK and microtech. Gonna make the step up in the knife world soon :) I've been reading the forums for a long time, but I never felt I had anything to contribute so I never joined until recently. I am so glad I did, I now go here daily and I've learned so much in the past 2 months. I'm glad to meet so many nice people too.

Enjoy!
~Swoop. If you'd like to call me something else, well I have a few nicknames I'll answer too as well haha.

I'm Joe, HI JOE! I was into knives in my youth (37 means it's nearly a thing of the past) and got back in around a year ago. Mostly I carried Swiss army or Multi tools over the years but i hate opening the knife blade on those things. I started with some Kershaws then found my first Spyderco - the "S". I keep anywhere between 6-12 knives in my EDC rotation. I don't collect I use, but i try to keep em as nice as possible. I prefer small knives right now but that varies often. My fav blade type is the wharncliffe. I have a Spin, CF Kiwi, Air, and am always looking for others. I have a Benchmade and a skyline, but most of my knives are Spyderco. I also still ahve that "S"

Hi guys.
I just found this thread, he, he. And I'm always glad to find other people who share the same passion.
I have a couple spydies myself (one IWB as I type) ;)

I was going to sign up just because of my sheer love for the company and its products. Sadly i lack the capability to post pictures and hardly post anything at all although i have been here since 2010. Thank you for your time i may join later on when i have the resources to do so.

Ctrees,
You are always welcome to join and we look forward to joining when you can. I understand as time is not a resource that I don't have a lot of.I work 55 to 60 hours a week and the wheels never stop turning in life for me.I try to make time for the thing that I love so that I have some sanity and balance.
Best wishes,
salmonkiller

Hi Ctrees, I apologize for the wait...road trip and car problems haha. I think you qualify for an exemption for the 50 posts. So, here's the sign up thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1041358-*NEW-spyderNation-open-sign-up-thread-quot

how to post a photo: Open two tabs, one blade forums one photobucket > Get a photobucket acount > upload photo > click on the photo > click "links to share this photo" > copy the "direct link" > in your reply box click the icon with a tree in a picture frame > paste the direct link into the box that appears > hit ok and you should have just uploaded a photo! If you have any questions feel free to ask. :) ~Kirby

P.S
If you can't post photos for some reason I'll give you my email and I'll post them on your behalf. :)

Greetings, fellow Spyder-Fanatics!

I am a hopeless addict who has been hiding knives from my wife for over 30 years... I began collecting while in the Military, and Gerber military blades were real popular in the late 70's... I purchased my first Spyderco in 1982 from a Cutlery Shoppe catalog (knife porn) - it was the 'economy' model... I purchased a Worker later, then an original Endura... when the first Military models came out, I was a goner... wow I love that knife! (I currently own over 50 variations of the Military) - and I see no end in sight... Spyderco keeps making awesome knives, and I keep buying them... as an investment! yeah! Thanks the ticket! Yeah! so, I have over a hundred posts on the Spyderco forums, and have been a member here and there since 2010... (a bit of a 'lurker' both places...) I currently own over 300 Spyderco knives... mostly higher end knives (just a few FRN) and my wife thinks that my collection is filled with $10.00 knives... (psst, don't tell her otherwise!) how bad is it with me? recently purchased four LionSpys and five Southards and six Szabos - oh my! (how is that for keeping the economy going) anyway, I want to join the SpyderNation and get a number and everything... before I retire...

Hi everyone. I have been collecting cool knives ever since I was 10 years old. I met Greg Lightfoot when I was a kid, and as soon as I found out that he was making knives in his spare time I was really hooked. I collect knives in an unconventional way. I buy them and use the heck out of them. I bought a sharpmaker when they came out and my first Spyderco was the original Delica followed by the Manix, which is one of the only knives I regret selling/trading away. I don't really have a favourite brand or model as I tend to see the positive aspects off all manufacturers. Do respect Spyderco for then innovative thinking and aesthetic but functional designs. Not to mentions there build quality and fit and finish. I recently turned my obsession into a business and started a website selling knives. I am not quitting my day job though so I promise to to spam y'all.

If I pick a number can it be 10? Pavel Bure is my favorite hockey player.

Good morning! Will you please post over in this thread? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1041358-*NEW-spyderNation-open-sign-up-thread-quot
I'll be happy to approve you, it seems like we share a similar collecting philosophy. :)

Cheers,
Kirby

Read every post in this thread and like all the mini intros…so here goes.

I’ve been reading BF for a number of months but never felt I had anything to contribute so I stayed on the sidelines. But after retiring and losing my ocean sports fishing ride, I needed something to do, so learning more cutting edge information about my hobby was what I wanted to do.

Picked up my first Spyderco maybe 10 years ago in a hardware store in Denver where I was working. Drawn to that weird hole in the blade I now have maybe 15 or so. I rotate them in and out on my work desk with only 3 or 4 visible at a time or my wife may take notice and I’ll be a very unhappy guy until I can make a convincing argument that they’re sorta like shoes…we need them.

I’m not ready to join the Nation yet, and don’t qualify anyway, but I know where this thread is and probably check back in a while.
Not quite understanding about the 50 posts. I read Spyderco Forum also. Do I need membership there as well? Or does 50 here qualify?

Hi all,

I'm a new member of the forums (have browsed for some time, but just registered) and Spyderco is definitely my favorite knife company overall. I'm interested in being part of the club, but probably don't meet the 50 post requisite yet. Does it count if when I'm in other forum sections I am still usually talking about Spydercos? LOL anyways, wanted to express an interest in this even though I'm still a bit wet behind the ears at blade forums.

My current spydercos:

Manix2 g10
manix 2 lightweight
paramilitary 2 all black
centofante 3
sage 2
dragonfly zdp

and of course, a sharpmaker. Make things sharp, then sharp things.

Welcome! Go over and visit the sign up thread if you haven't. It should have the requirements listed. It's been awhile since I looked there. One of the guys will approve you over there. Enjoy the forums, go explore and learn and most importantly, spend all your money on knives but be sure to leave a small bit for a membership to the forum if you choose to support it. :D

I figure I should add to this thread. Real name is Dave and was born in Golden, CA. but now live in Los Angeles. I am 48 and have been into knives since I was 6 or 7. Family was a big firearm family, so knives were a start for me. First knives were Case peanuts etc, then Buck 110 and 112 with fixed blades later. I saw my first Spyderco in the mid 1980's, I think. Did not like them at all.....not at all. Around the mid 90's they just clicked. I have owned at least 50 Spyderco knives over the years, and everytime I get back to Golden, I visit the shop and buy one. I am not bagging on other brands as I have many, by Spyderco just fits my style and uses. Here are some of the current ones I own and carry.
