Oh dear... Bear Grylls at it again

whats the point in picking on him? tell me. what because he uses cheap knives? because he puts himself at risks? because he eats animal raw?
No, you dont like him because you cant stand to have someone new on the scene. and i am not a fanboy i just dont see the point of going on about afew mistakes some guy makes on his programs, pathetic.

What's the point of arguing over the internet?

Keifer Sutherland doesn't really have the schematics to the Chinese Embassy in his cell phone, either.

Lies all lies. His PDA can also zoom in from 75 feet away close enough to photograph the serial number on an explosive vest and then flash that rom and explode said vest.

Jack Bauer has died twice for his country and lived to tell about it.

Did you think he was an "expert"? Did you think any of them were anything but entertainment? There are a few who stand out as informative and intelligent, but that's not the idea -- as soon as they stop being entertaining, the media will drop them.

That's why it's good to support the legitimate programs and laugh off the fakes. The media will respond positively to feedback.

Anyone who spends all their time outdoors yet stays so fat has got to be doing something right

wtf dose that have anything to do with wether you like him or not.
i like him aswell but i also like bear because i like to give people chances.

Esav, I am pretty sure that night hawk was talking to me.

I certainly don't love Ray Mears, but I do enjoy his show, I also enjoy watching Les Stroud. both of those guys are very knowledgable about the outdoors and survival, personable without bragging or self promoting. On almost every episode I learn something or see demonstrated something I have heard of, I am sure that there is a bit of fudging going on on their shows too, but at least the things they do are at least plausible and does not insult my intelligence. i enjoy watching his programs too i just fuind it stupid that some people join these forums just to ask what kind of toilet paper ray mears uses.

night_hawk, that last remark by me was meant to be very much tongue in cheek :) I took a fall climbing on tuesday, bust up an ankle and am beginning to go stir crazy not being able to get out.

Unlike you I'm afraid I'm a cynic at heart, none more so than when it comes to TV. I watched Ray Mears build a charcoal burner and then deep fry fritters and couldn't help thinking to myself "hmmm very nice Ray, but where did the quart of cooking oil come from? Do you really carry 2kg of oil in your pack in case you want to make fritters?"

However for the most part I find Ray Mears informative and he has a wealth of experience, so much so that I'm booked onto 2 weeks of his courses at Woodlore next year. Anyway, the thread was started in regards to Grylls's dubious claims to a recent world record, what he does on TV doesn't matter IMO, you can always change channel

Last I hear, Bear Grylls was killing turkey vultures and biting the heads off of hawks.
