Oh My Garsh!!!! . . . . It's The Coolest "SantaGanzaaaaa" Of All Time!!!!!!!

In the past, Jerry has said that anything goes at the Trough. Hog treachery, proxy, porking up all the knives, etc.

Now maybe there will be different rules for this SantaGanzaaaa.

I would imagine porking up all the knives would definitely be out of the question on a ganzaa for FREE knives. Otherwise, the first person to get the email in would snag them all.

This is different from any ganzaa that's been done before, as far as this piglet can tell, so I'm really curious to see what the rules will be.

No matter what, I'm sure Jerry and the gang will make it tons of fun

There are some hipocritical statements here, and its been going on for sometime. I think some of you should think about your statements.

Nobody makes the rules but Jerry. End of discussion.

No one has the right to judge anyone. Ever.

Its not up to anyone except the winner of the knife/credit to do with it as they see fit.

If a noob wins the best knife, or biggest credit, and sells it to pay for some bills, food, gun, another knife that they prefer, a trip to Cancun or whatever he/she chooses....it was their choice. No one elses. Period.

Do you think it makes em a bad person cause they tried out for something free? Do you think the person will not love Jerry and company? If someone needs to sell it why would you begrudge them?

If its an old Hog that wins, maybe they need the money more than the knife. You mean they are just suppose to keep something that they might not even use?

THis doesnt sound like Jerry to me....

THis does...

Right on !!

I would say there are a TON of caveats for these statements in Busse land.

If I had sold my Boss Street proto before the production version was released, would I have been within my "rights" to do with it as I saw fit, regardless of the agreement with Jerry? Would anyone have the right to judge me? Same goes for the killa zilla - I put mine up for sale at exactly the six month mark, but I knew I didn't want to keep it after a few weeks of owning it. Should I have just put it on ebay months ago, when I got hit with some unexpected damage from the storms and flooding, and desperately needed cash, or should I have honored my agreement?

You're right - it IS up to Jerry to make the rules, and no one else, but we have every right to have an opinion on what we think the rules should be. I personally think the rules should be similar to those for the killa zilla, with a minimum time you agree to wait before selling the knife, and I hope Jerry chooses to do something like that for these free knives he is giving away as a gift and act of kindness to fans of his company.

edited to add: With the zilla, I was sitting on a $700 knife that I didn't want, and I still chose to do the upstanding thing and honor my agreement with Jerry. If Jerry chooses to attach a similar agreement to this ganzaa, as I feel he should, I would ABSOLUTELY judge anyone who violates that agreement. I didn't see a single Killa Zilla go up for sale during the six month period, so if the Test Team can be expected to honor that agreement, even when they are sitting on hundreds of hard-earned dollars missing from their pockets, then you can be darn sure I think people who were given free knives as a gift should honor a similar agreement.

So that means its not going to be a giveaway so much as a popquiz, so all the piglets need to learn the super secret dance so they can recite the step order and movements to be eligible to be in this ganza ;)

:rolleyes::eek:

Only if you wanted to break your word, and your signed agreement:(

Honestly, I dont see how your statements are in any way an answer or reply to my post. Your a great guy cause you didnt break your word and trash the contract you signed. THats disgusting:(

Well that's sort of my point, though - many of us believe a similar agreement should be attached to this contest.

Also, for the record, a proxy scored my Boss Street. I never saw a copy of the agreement, and never outright agreed to it. I never signed anything, and when the knife was shipped to me I never actually made any kind of agreement with anyone.

Yet I still honored the spirit of the knife's release, and considered myself bound by an unspoken agreement that it wasn't cool to sell the knife. I hope something similar happens for this contest.

It's called the Deep Discount Hog Truffle Shuffle, and you SHOULD learn it....

Not that dance, the other one...The secret one...

Movement 1) Open the bottle
Movement 2) Pour three fingers into a glass
Movement 3) Add two whiskey stones to the glass
Movement 4) Do a little turn
Movement 5) Add two drops of water from a eyedropper
Movement 6) Take a sip
Movement 7) Shimmy, Shimmy, Shimmy
Repeat from movement 6 until empty.

Oh...not really a secret anymore...so I guess theres only one thing left to do...

technically speaking as far as jerry's word/opinion goes: yes. as seen with the cubera. unless you actually signed or rendered a legal document saying otherwise.

Thats the point of jerry's "agreements", they are not bound by law they are bound by personal choice. You are absolutely within your right to break the agreement as long as jerry has not set up a legally binding situation. If you do it publicly you will be subject to public opinion on this forum as long as that opinion stays civil. There are those who say "you should let your children starve before breaking your word" and there are those who say "a word means nothing in hard times": in reality the world is made up of the gray area between those two statements.

And I'm absolutely within my rights to think someone who does that is a jerk. It's certainly not hypocritical for me to think such a thing.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn here - I'm just saying, you make an agreement, you should honor that agreement, and I think it would be swell if such an agreement were attached to this contest. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't understand how a simple opinion like that can generate so much drama

I just don't like black and white statements like always and never. The world isn't that nice or that simple. I've sold things I said I'd never sell (never for profit, always at a huge loss or for free) and I've regretted it later, but I understand the reasons I did it at the time. To judge a man on such a simple act under these conditions is short sighted about what really makes a man. I don't like seeing people go against jerry's agreements either, but I also don't like seeing them judged as a person simply for the act rather then who they are and why they actually did it.

anyways... this is a santa-ganzaa thread, and topics like this have a way of taking over 20 pages of a thread.

It is obvious that some people need to drink more.
Busse is the best knife company I have dealt with. They set the bar pretty frickin' high...

I might be one of the new pigglets on the hog farm. There's certain things in life you could never sell, or put a price on it.Receiving a personal gift from the Top dog,, Hog in this case,,would be an honor, and the bragging rights plus the mere fact i can show it off the rest of my life saying it was givin to me by Jerry. You can't put a price on that.
Besides I havent seen such a devoted group of people towards anyone,, not sence the Greatful Dead's Jerry Garcia "Jerry Lives" anyway i dont see any of you selling the knife so why bring it up or bick'er about it.
