Oh, the stupid and overpriced things you find on ebay...

This, however, is even worse:

68 on the Rockwell scale? Not likely. I love it when they say "high grade 100% American 440 Surgical Stainless Steel." The price ain't bad, though.
This one has been discussed before. The knife is made by Aitor, a Spanish company. It's a dive knife. Lots and lots of BS in that auction but the price is as good as I've seen. The guy must have bought truckloads of them.
He's discounting them in fairness to anyone who reads through all the text in that auction! :D

His shipping price over the border tells me all I need to know: $29.95 !!!!
For shipping a 4 oz. parcel? Okaaaaaaaay.

Although, to be fair to him, he offers a little whine to go with it:

"International shipping is more expensive, and requires that I go into the post office and wait in line."

Perhaps if he were offered a little cheese to go with his whine, he may discount.

Heh, it looks like he wrote that mess in the middle of a week long meth and alcohol binge.

If someone is thinking about buying from him though, his feedback is pretty bad IMO and he leaves strange retaliatory negatives. There's a trend of slow or no delivery.

The first time i saw one of these knives I was quite impressed for the money. It had a leaf shaped blade and was selling for $19.95 Canadian.

Three-thousand, nine-hundred, and ninty-four of them according to the auction listing.

It's no wonder he's so eager to sell them.

Any idea what the interesting feature on the spine is all about? I've never seen anything like it. Is that some sort of diving thing?

I believe those notches on the spine are there to give the blade somewhere to snap off at when you try to use it as a pry bar....

It's shaped kind of like a "cleat" on the deck of a boat.

"THE TOP OF THE BLADE HAS A UNIQUE WIRE STRIPPER AND BENDER, SOMETHING THAT YOU USED TO SEE ON OLD MILITARY STYLED BAYONETS."

Somebody should explain to him what the word "unique" means, but I'm not going to do it.

By the way I have never seen anything like that on a bayonet. Maybe it is unique after all.

While I'm here, what does a civilian styled bayonet look like?

I didn't say that Zytel and similar materials can't make nice knives, just that cheap molded plastic is not the sort of thing that appeals to collectors.

What??? All 'dem Spyderco Q Collectors are just fetishists???? :D

One man's crap is another man's ice cream. Who can say why certain oddities become collectable??

The Shark-Tec Knife on the other hand......

Sounds like Jim-Bob there got fired from the Shopping Channel. Only 3,994 left so act now! That knife does it ALL. Never saw a "cable stripper" like that on a dive knife before. Perhaps it doubles as a lateral "blood groove" for enhanced shark/kitten/Oompa-Loompa deanimation.....:)

There is also a hole right below it. Perhaps it is a tie off for a fishing line, so you can lose both your knife and fishing gear if you happen to hook onto a fish.

I bought 6 Twistmasters for $10 apiece when CS was closing them out. I think they would have sold better if they weren't so hard to open and close.

I dunno, as far as Zytel and cheap molded plastic not becoming collector's items, I know plenty of people who collect David Boye folders (Zytel handles) and Bakelite (cheap molded plastic), and you'd be surprised at what these things can go for.

I am the designer and manufacturer of the Shark Tec, and any time you would like to put your money where your mouth is, and pay to have any one of my knives tested, I would be happy to take you up on the bet! Or, to be a bit easier on you, just send me a copy of your degree in Metallurgy, and I will eat my words!! It isn't likely to happen though, as you probably don't know much about metal, or anything else for that matter! It would be rather manly of you to at least attack a person to their face, instead of posting a whine to a website where you can hide behind a screen, with your Internet education, degree and knowledge! I have been making cutlery, along with many other things for 40 years, and one thing there is never any shortage of are experts whom are self appointed. I guess that goes along with the territory though. Whenever you sell something to the public, they sit back and take pot shots at you, claim to be able to do it better, and know more than anyone else! I have a knife manufacturing company that employs 25 full time craftsmen, so I couldn't possibly know more about it than you! What do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking? If you don't want to answer, then I understand and wont press the issue. I would be a bit hesitant to let everyone know that I was being supported by those of us who work everyday, and don't have to rely on the public, or even an employer to get by!! Have a nice life, and thanks for reviewing my knives!!

Ehm, sorry if I'm stepping on any toes, but are you posting as the author of your post or are you just copying it from somewhere?

Just asking; it's happened before.

Hey Bladerunner308, calm down my friend, and while you're at it, please look at the dates on posts. This thread is four and a half years old, man! Just sayin', not the most auspicious BF entrance I've ever seen...
