Oh, what to buy....

Need a 710HS, too. That'll be next year. Couldn't buy the $39 Delica. They called to say they only had the 50/50 edge one and I generally prefer all or nothing.

Guess I'll have to just devote that much more time to the Native. :D

Good luck finding your affordable 710HS. If you have one in 154CM, maybe Benchmade will swap it out with the M2 one for a few bucks. I'll call about that today and let you know what they say if you're interested.

But in the meantime....

S30V Native's on its way! Woo-Hoo!

I got a PE Delica from Roger last week. I guess i got one fo the last ones. I was told that he might get the 710HS with 1 or 2 weeks.

Regards,
Ryan

Thanks for the heads-up on the Delica plain-edges! Just ordered one from Knifeworks. Now I have to wait for it to arrive, possibly a day later than the Native/204UF party pack, so that I can use it to open the packages.

I ordered a 204uf on saturday. I hope to receive it soon. I want to get my Buck scary sharp like my Delica. I am also the first gguy to receive the Impala Passaround. I doubt i will need to sharpen it. I might use the 204uf to touch it up.

You aren't able to make your Buck Spydie-sharp with the medium and fine rods? Well, good luck with the ultra-fine! I can't imagine how much sharper the UF jobbies will get everything, but maybe my upcoming Spydies and my Benchmade 921 will slice atoms afterwards.

The buck is sharp, but not as sharp as i want. The thick blade doesnt help either. The damn SFO screwed up my order. They are going to ship the 204UF to me today. They were supposed to be shipped out last week. So i guess i am SOL for now.

At least you get to have the feeling of anticipation for that much longer...<shrug/>

My fine hones work very well on most everything I own (except for my Applegate-Carebear, but that's only because I don't really know how to sharpen properly), why won't they get your Buck sharp? If you do have the 420HC model, wouldn't that be easier to sharpen than ATS-55, VG-10, or 440V?

The Buck is ATS34. It is the Carbon Fibre Odyssey. I reground the blade until all the serrations are gone. So the blade is about 5mm shorter. So the blade is quite thick. So i need to make the edge alot sharper to slice.

That's a lot of steel to remove!

If ATS-34 isn't hair popping sharp from a Sharpmaker, I'd wonder if you need to remove more steel from the sides or if it has an un-Smurfy heat treatment.

154CM, which is almost identical, takes a wonderful edge on my Sharpmaker. Many 154CM blades keep that new edge smell for weeks after I sharpen then on it and I'm a confirmed novice.
