OINK Nomination

incorrect sir. but still in the right city/county.

and im not a runner, except when chased.

Sorry I'm just winging it with a somewhat educated guess. Maybe I should consult with a search engine before I embarass myself.

I know that there are only a few runners, and as you were online this weekend I kinda figured you were in the non runner category, but wouldn't it just suck to try and run from an LEO that can run a 4.5 minute mile all day long. I bet there are some street thugs locked up that thought they were fast.

yes, there are quite a few.

of the ones i have chased on foot, about half have gotten away. its hard to jump fences and walls wearing all the crap we carry around.

i havent found anyone who can outrun my shop, though. :D

Well you win some you lose some, but it does sound like you are fond of your shop.

I guess shop sounds a lot more masculine than office?

If you are still able to catch half of the "runners" that sounds pretty good to me. As you probably carry at least 15 pounds of gear, if not more.

i weighed all my gear once, not including helmet, side handle baton, upr, shotgun or extra stuff. just uniform and regular gear.

30 lbs.

I was just over in the Busse forum and I saw that PG had listed me as a nominee. That is really an honor. And I have to thank him for that.

But I think that I really have not been here long enough to qualify so although I AM A GREAT GUY (after all, my mom says so) I think I need to put in some time before I could possibly qualify.

For what it is worth I’d strongly second Garvelface and Paddling Man but for different reasons. PM is a super guy that has helped me on may occasions and GF well he is absolutely relentless in his pursuit of Infi. In fact if I was his Dr. I’d pull that hunk of metal out of his azz and replace it with my BA-III, as that is where it really belongs. The other guys mentioned PG I just don’t know very well so I can’t comment.

I can't begin to list all the guys that I think will be there some day but one guy that has made me laugh enough to qualify in my book is Guyon. If he isn't a HOG then I'll never be.

In my time here I have been exposed to too many great personalities to list; and for that I think I need to thank Jerry Busse. Really; he may or may not be the best knife maker but I can’t say that I have ever seen a man create a community like this. And I realize that it has just about been a year for me here and I have never actually thanked him for that. So I’m doing that now … lets see with a 16 year old Lagavulin.

i thought guyon and pm were already hogs.

if not, they certainly should be. i think you qualify, tony, as well.

Morimotom (Mark) and Gravelface (Jason) are no Brainers. I wholeheartedly agree! Mulder (Dave) also makes that list just as easily :).

thx paul. im just honored to be mentioned. :D

but really, gravel and mulder and guyon and pm should come way before me.

Is there a list of OINKers out there so we can't nominate those who already hold the honor of being inducted?

I think Mulder ought to be a shoo-in.

He plays a mean game of "hide the badger."

Not that there's anything wrong with that... :D

I completely agree that Mulder should be a lock as a new Hog. Not only does he have a totally Hog-worthy collection, he's a great guy who's always willing to share tips, pass along a good deal or generally just talk Busses. Highly recommended.

My top three votes would have to include Gravel and PM as well.

Dan

You are welcome for the nod Tony. Has it only been ayear for you? Man it seems like longer. Maybe because you just fit in so well.

If you guys want to check the list sticky at the top of this forum, it has those already inducted. Some of the names need a little explanation, but most are pretty straight forward adaptations of their forum names.

Thanks for the sentiments, guys, but I'll likely always be a lowly pork rind. I drink way too much bourbon and not enough scotch. More importantly, I don't think I could whip out my willie for measurements at the induction ceremony. I'm truly a shy guy when it comes right down to it. :p :D

This thread did make me at least assess where I'm at in the Busse department. Bought my first Busse, a SJ-TAC, from BCS in December '05, so this is just under a year-and-a-half's worth of buying/pimping myself for/trading for Busse-affiliated knives. I found four more as I was putting up that pile, so 3 GW's and an AD LE are missing from the pic.

Might have been more if I hadn't gotten into Becker knives in a serious way this past year as well. Still, I'm glad I got the Beckers while they were still affordable. They've gone through the roof on eBay lately.

As for the Busse forum, I'm just around pretty much for comic relief and to give Tony G a hard time. Certainly, I have a ways to go before HOG status. Plus, I'm going to have to find a bottle of Pig's Nose somewhere. And take assertiveness classes that involve displays of nudity. :D

Edited to add: Now that I'm looking for it, I don't see my Ratweiler in that pic either. Man, now I gotta go look for my RW.

I started a thread on this at the home forum and placed a sticy here. I was trying to keep it at the home forum for the sake of making it easier to compile a list for Amy and it would help increase traffic over there.

That makes excellent sense. Let's 'move it on home.'

Would you like me to post my noms above on the home forum? I'd be happy to...

How old are you?

I spent some time in Tennessee in the '70s. There are at least 10 chances that I'm your daddy!
