OK Dan, here is my perfect little knife design

I'd probably go ahead and make it a little more pointy. It's definitely cool though...great drawing!

I agree with Dan, make it a little more pointy in the transition into the "kissaki".

A rounded flat razor like that would have a hard time slashing or stabbing through a heavy coat.

how about this?

I've resized the pic so that on my monitor, it's nearly life sized.

DIJ, what is its basic function? Similar to a Karambit or? Nice design though.:)

Dan,
Did you shorten the blade?
Its hard to see the difference, but I do see it seems a little pointier.
Wierd, its like an optical illusion.
I like that though. Lets go with it!

Yvsa, I just like his "lil kazor" design so much, I bought it. I also liked his kerambit design and thought a fusion might be interesting. This is the interesting fusion baby.
Primary function - slicing attack dogs in half , lengthwise, in the air.

I like the kerambit design a lot, Danny... With some exotic wood scales, and Dan's fit and finish, it will be a work of art, and super functional as well.

I'm currently asking Dan to sort out some details on another custom for me, so I'd appreciate it if you'd wait about a week before ordering the kerambit to keep down the waiting time... :p :D

I dont have money to order it yet!

I enjoy designing them and I think Dan and I have a knife design frequency in common.
I know and like what he does with these things and he usually likes my designs from the start. We have "knife-sympatico."

Ah-ha...it's an anti-troll knife...

.

I wonder if that design would work with more of a tanto style blade, either way if Dan were to start making these it could turn into a major run

OK...I don't have my HI kerambit handy to make a comparison, but what are the differences between the two? Size, thickness, length, etc. What are you hoping to accomplish with the design that is different than the HI model? What steel would you prefer to use? Just curious and want to be better informed. Thanks,

Jeff

I DID think about the tanto type point. That could be easily done too.
It would be slimmer and shorter than the HI model. A convex razor type blade.
Why? I just really liked his designs and thought a hybrid would be cool and this is the baby. It is a concealable, low-profile type weapon. And it cuts cheese.

The HI kerambit is lovely, (I have bought three) but It is a little heavy and wide for concealed carry, although I have a tom Krein sheath coming that will make mine more carryable.

Was there a goal I wanted to achieve? Not really, I was just enjoying myself with enjoyable ideas amongst enjoyable people.
Thats the Cantina , baby, yeah!

quick comparison - true to scale.

The kerambit measures 9" and the kazor 6" (on my screen).

slim down the handel, thin it up a bit cut some weight, with a tanto blade , it would be light fast sharp....who wouldn't want one

Thanks. That could be really cool. I guess the HI model is a bit big for easy concealment. Would you want to use something like D2, which is stainless and takes a pretty good edge, or something more traditional? Damascus steel even? Could be an exciting project.
